Loseforreal - My journey

Such a cute Duckie!

I weigh myself everyday but I only use my Friday morning weight as my official weight for that week. Thats when I update my ticker.

I was bad yesterday and had a large french fry from McDonalds for dinner. I still managed to keep my calories in check. Fast food fries taste so good once in a while and I did share them with my sister. I think we need to give in to our cravings once in a while. In moderation of course!

Goals for tomorrow: Grocery shopping. Stay away from fast food. Exercise a little more. And give all that candy away or tell someone to hide it from me.

I think as we grow up, its forced into our minds not to waste "food/edible things" but I've discovered that there is no shame in throwing away candy. Yea, its a waste but if it isn't there, you can't eat it. :)

It took some major willpower for me to throw away perfectly good snickers...

Hey Jennifer,

Thanks so much for coming by my diary! Yeah the office party was lame in that sense but I am over it. Hopefully it wont hurt my numbers this week, its shouldn't.

Congratz on the weight loss! I am sure on your weigh in day your going to be very pleased! I hope your having a great day and I look forward to hearing some updates!

Travis

Congrats on the loss!:hurray:

My scale said a 1 lb loss, but I'm going to wait to see if it says the same thing tomorrow before I update my ticker. I wanna make sure it's really gone. :)
Keep up the good work!
Anne

Tammy - Somehow I missed you up there, sorry. Thank you!!! And thanks for the rep points. lol. Although I don't understand what it means. :) I gave some away too though.

Margaret - Yeah, I should enjoy every ounce dropped, but I have been going up and down between 282 and 293 for about two months now. lol. So I'm not that thrilled. Once I get under 280, then I'll start celebrating. I'm just keeping cool til then. Thanks for dropping by, hope you're having a great day!

Emily - Thanks for the comments on my Duckie. Hehe. I just fount it online and decided that I'd use it for my avatar. It's funny. I agree that once in a while that you should give-in to temptation. That's life! You can't stop eating things completley. Thanks for dropping by. Have a good day :)

Sunny - I gave the candy away! lol. I gave it to my mom's friend that's gonna give it to her son. I felt kinda bad that she's gonna give it to her son though. LIke he needs it! He should be eating fruit. It was a TON of candy. :( Oh well. That's her son. Anyway, I don't think I could have thrown it away. But it is an excellent option. Thanks for dropping by, I need to head over to your diary now!

Travis - I can't wait til my weigh in day. I'm exercising as much as I can, so I hope I have good results. Have a great day!

Anne - Thank you for your support. I appreciate it![/b]

Grr... just spent hours troubleshooting my computer because it wouldn't let me online for some reason. I just reinstalled the whole system. Anyway, I guess that fixed the problem. LOL. Anyway. That's why I missed posting yesterday's food. So here it is:

Yesterday's activity:

Breakfast: Honey Bunches of Oats w/ skim milk and banana (510 cals)
Lunch: LiveSmart Popcorn Chicken w/ Ketchup (370 cals)
Snack: Banana, Almonds (285 cals)
Dinner: Chicken and Vegetable Stew (340 cals)
Snack: Mike and Ike's Popcicle (50 cals)

Total: 1685 cals

Water: 1 1/2 liters
Exercise: 10 minutes of Taebo Amped (boy, did that 10 minutes wear me out!) and 25 minutes of Leslie's Walk-N-Tone.

Goals Accomplished: Gave away the Halloween candy. Went food shopping. And did a little more exercise.

So...
My mother's friend wants to join Curves with me. I'm not sure if she's serious about it. I'll only join if she joins though. If not, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. I want to start doing more Taebo Amped. It's SO hard!!! I just gotta take it one step at a time.

I'll post my food a bit later. :)

Jennifer

Where's everyone at? Seems a little slow on the site now. Am I the only one home on a Friday night? lol
So...

Food:

Breakfast Waffles w/ light syrup & Pear (326 cals)
Snack: Banana (90 cals)
Lunch: LiveSmart Popcorn Chicken w/ ketchup (355 cals)
Snack: 1/2 bag Baked Lays Potatoe Chips and a Diet rootbeer (105 cals)
Dinner: Spaghetti (I dunno how many cals. I'm averaging around 450 cals)
Snack: Orange (86 cals)

Total: 1412 cals

Exercise 15 mins of Cardio KickButt and 15 minutes of 1 Mile Jog with Leslie
Water[/b[ 1 1/2 Liters

Things Accomplished: Bought some Bio-Oil for my stretch marks. Hopefully this can at least help fade my stretch marks a bit, so my skin can look as lovely as I'm gonna look. I hope it works. I never buy into products that claim they can do something. We'll see...

Hi Jennifer

I often will not be about when you are because of differences in time zones etc. I tend to get round to looking at diaries when resting after my walks. My husband often hogs the computer at nights and at weekends. He is having a nap now.

Well done for sticking to your calories and getting some exercise in.

Also well done for giving away the candy. I have hidden ours - ready for when the carol singers start calling in a month's time.

In England we go straight from Halloween to bonfires. There were a lot of fireworks going off last night (5th November is our traditional night for bonfires and fireworks but a lot of people go to firework displays held across this weekend).

I hope that the bio-oil works for you. I use it. I just keep hoping that it does some good. If your stretch marks are coloured I believe that you can get them to fade to the white / clear ones by using laser. I imagine a dermatologist would be able to sort that out for you. We have laser clinics here. I have had a fair bit of laser work done - and although a little uncomfortable - it is certainly no worse than a trip to the dentist. My PCOS means that I am very hairy and I have had laser treatment for that.

Take care

Jennifer,

Don't you just hate it when pc's give you trouble like that?

I was here on Friday night, but only for a few min. My husband got home after being gone for a few days so I try to spend as much time with him as I can.

Looks like you are doing a great job on your calorie counting and your exercise. Good for you!

I was going to look into joining Curves until I found out they didn't have treadmills or bikes. My whole workout consists of walking, so that wouldn't work for me. I have heard a lot of women do lose weight at Curves. I think my sister is going to join. If once I lose enough weight, I may join so I can tone up. So, keep us posted on how you like it, ok?

Anne

Thanks Margaret and Anne for stopping by!

Anne - At Curves you can walk too. You can run or do anything you want on the boards that they have. But yeah, Curves is pretty limited. I'm not sure if I wanna join. I might just join a real gym. We'll see...

Breakfast: HOney Bunches of Oats w/ Skim milk (450 cals)
Snack: 25 Cheez-Its (150 cals)
Lunch: Turkey Sandwich (260 Cals)
Snack: Banana (90 cals)
Dinner: Spaghetti (500 cals) This is a total guess.
Snack: Mike and Ike Popcicle (50 cals)
Drinks Two sugar free juices (20 cals)

Total: 1520 Cals

Exercise: 25 minutes of Leslie's Walk N Tone. That's all I felt like doing...

Water: 1 Liter

Things Accomplished Hurt my knee while exercising, I guess I moved it the wrong way. I have some killer cramps and fatigue. But I still managed to exercise a bit. I almost talked myself out of it, but I decided to just do it. So I guess that's an accomplishment.

Not so good things:I feel like I ate a bunch of junk today though. Tomorrow I'll eat a little better and exercise more.

On the plus side: My mom told me that she thinks my neck looks thinner. I've only lost 2 lbs so far. lol. I doubt it... unless I lost 2 lbs off my neck :p

Hi Jennifer

I am sorry that you hurt your knee. You did well to get your exercise done just the same. I often end up walking despite a few foot problems that come along. I spent about an hour last night soaking and putting ointment on my feet. I have certainly been punishing them this year - but they have brought me a long way.

Although you criticise what you ate - the calories and exercise should give a net loss on the day and should therefore result in a weight loss. I agree that we can however always strive to make healthier choices with the calories that we spend.

You joke about the weight having come off your neck - but I swear that the first 28 pounds came off the top of my left leg!!!! You would never believe it!!! I would stand in front of a mirror and see how my right leg looked like the tree trunk that it had always been and my left leg looked comparitively skinny (well ok not skinny compared to skinny people but certainly skinny compared to the rest of me). There were visibly inches difference between the two legs. It looked wierd.

You would swear that I had been hopping everywhere instead of walking!!!!

I asked my husband what he thought and he agreed that they were obviously very different. I even asked the doctor about it. She said that was just the way it happened and that it would even itself up in time. It did eventually.

Take care

lol, wow. Well maybe it did come off my neck. It's really too bad that we can't do spot reduction. I'm sure you wouldn't have chosen the left leg to lose weight first. And I would choose my butt or thighs before anything else. The lower half of me is much bigger than the top half. *sigh*.

My knee feels better. Sometimes, I think it's mind over body. I will not let my knee pain stop me. My knee pain is one of the reasons why I want to lose weight. I don't want to have major knee problems in the future like my mom has. She has two total knee replacements! Yikes!

Thanks for the encouragement and your thoughts like always Margaret. Have a great day. And I'm glad your legs finally match each other now. :)

Jennifer

Got up this morning and hopped on the scale and it was 288.4. A wide smile pop over my face. I wasn't expecting that number! I was so motivated by it that I immediately went to workout so I can get an even better number. I'm so happy with that number, that I'm not gonna wait til Wednesday to change my ticker, gonna do it now.

Congratulations! I love having the ticker! It helps to have a visual representation of your progress! Especially when it is a cute baby chick!

I love seeing good numbers on the scale! It really does get you motivated!

Keep it up!!!

Hi Jennifer.

Congratulations on your weight loss.:hurray: I think that you are right to update your ticker - after all you may as well enjoy that weight today.

Now you will see why I weigh myself every day. I would hate to just see a loss on one day a week. OK so it doesnt always go down - but it tends to go down more than once a week if you are really good with food and exercise. Also you get early notice about plateaus and can then react and do something about them that much earlier.

If you do start weighing every day - do as I do and post on the "weigh every day" club.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Thanks everyone for dropping by. Margaret - I will definitely join that club if I decide to weigh myself everyday. Maybe it will keep me on track a little bit.

Food:

Breakfast Honey Bunches of Oats, Skim Milk (450 cals)
Snack: None
Lunch: LiveSmart Popcorn Chicken w/ ketchup (355 cals)
Snack: 12 oz. Non-Fat Vanilla Yogurt (270 cals)
Dinner: Pineapple, Meatballs and Rice (514 cals)
Snack: 100 cal. Doritos (100 cals)

Total: 1689 cals

Exercise: 30 minutes Walk N Tone (2 miles), 17 minutes Jogging with Leslie (1 mile)

Goals Get to 287 or under by Wednesday. I should be able to do it. I think me being on my period makes me weigh more than I should. Ugh. Anyway...

My brother came unexpectantly today from Arizona. That was nice. It looks like my mother and I are going to Arizona for Thanksgiving. I'm already dreading it. We're gonna be there for about a week. I'm wondering what sort of food will they have, how I should exercise, etc. I have to exercise at least. I'm thinking about walking around their block a few times every day.

Anyway, I'm beat...

did a lot of running around today. Plus the exercise that I've been doing is making my leg muscles hurt. Though it's a good feeling to be sore because of working out. It's better than it hurting from atrophy...

I'm gonna go watch Dexter now and relax. :p

Hi Jennifer

Another day when you were controlled with your food (particularly difficult if you have your period) and got some exercise in. A good day in my book.

I should mention that if you weigh yourself every day you have to expect to put on a little when you have your period (and indeed when you have a large meal) - you just get used to interpreting the little ups among the downs in your weight. These things always sort themselves out if you maintain focus with diet and exercise.

I know what you mean about the forthcoming holiday. In England we do not have Thanksgiving - but my diet will be tested this weekend in probably much the same way. This coming weekend my parents will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary - they get a card from The Queen for that number of years married. Two days later my father will turn 90. They are planning some pretty major celebrations - including a family party with a number of cousins on Saturday. We are heading north on Thursday and will be there until Sunday.

Last time I went was for my school reunion on 13th October. I think that I will do much the same as then. I took scales and certain food items - e.g. sweetener, weetabix, skimmed milk, fruit, raisins, low cal cola. I decided in advance that I would be good with my food where practical. Two meals were excessive compared to when I am at home - the rest were much the same. I decided in advance that I would aim to do 10,000 steps per day. In actual fact I went out on one approximately 6 mile walk each day. I did less exercise than when I am at home - but more than I had set for myself. I actually lost a pound that week - and was quite happy with that - being pleased that I had enjoyed myself but maintained overall control.

Take care
Love
Margaret
