Lose muscle before fat when Starving?

I'm not on here enough to know if this is where this belongs. This topic doesn't regard me, but my girlfriend. She is trying to lose weight by eating much less. I was just wondering since a pound of muscle is 600 calories, and a pound of fat is 3500 calories. Does this mean that you're going to lose some muscle faster than your losing fat if your method is to starve yourself without really excersizing?

No, it doesn't mean that.

But starving yourself without doing specific exercises to 'save' muscle is about the dumbest thing one can do.

It's a path that ends in frustration and misery.

If that's what she's after.....

Have at it!

People are all different and react to different exercises and routines. I've seen some people lose weight quick, and some it takes way longer. It's weird but it's true. You will lose more fat compared to muscle (if you even lose any muscle).
