Lose belly fat

Hi im 19. Im a male and i run XC/track at a very good program. I do ab exercises 6 times a week with the teams personal trainer. Im 5'11 and 160 lbs. I dont have any flab on my body except in my lower ab region. I have a noticeable six pack, but the flab is on the sides.

I dont party and i eat fairly well. I run about 60 miles per week and do our strength exercises. I am a 800 runner so i need some muscle mass. i feel my abs are fairly strong but this flab is annoying. Is there some eating habits I need to change? Im burning a lot of calories running and doing other exercises. I just need to get rid of this little flab on my lower stomach. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What you need to do is lower your body fat %. To do this you need to eat a calorie deficeit. Your body requires a certain amount of calories a day to maintain a certain weight. If you eat over this you will put on weight, if you eat below this you will lose weight. You don't want to eat too much of deficeit though, only about 20% under maintenance. Otherwise you will lose muscle mass which isn't good as just having muscles burn calories. You also have to eat clean, no junk food.

You have to keep a food log to do this. Try . You can also work out roughly what your maintenance level is there.

Weight training is also important. It will help you maintain the muscle so your only losing fat.

Good luck.
