Loose weight - while eating the same way

Is it possible to still eat the same way, but still loose weight. Running 1000 calories per day, doing weight.
Thanks

A deficit is a deficit no matter how you slice it. It can come from a reduction in caloric intake, an increase in energy expenditure, or a combo of both.

IME, a combo is best.

Also, cleaning up the diet never hurt anyone.

Funny thing is stopped eating after 7pm. Got rid of all my junk, pop, chocolate. And didn't loose any weight in one week. What am I doing wrong.
Thanks

One week, even with discipline, you might only drop 500 calories a day.

3500 calories is what is required to drop a pound of weight.

This can EASILY be masked by water retention when you weighed yourself.

But alternatively, this can also easily be held back by excess calories from the time you wake up to 7 pm.

It can also be the quirks of most scales. You'd be surprised how inaccurate scales can be.

The mantra: If you really have made changes in your eating and exercise programs, you are dealing with a temporary roadblock. But it may not be temporary. There may be compensating dietary behaviours involved. I would be more than willing to go over them with you.

I would need to know:

1) Your weekly exercise regimen (like, over the last 2-3 weeks)
2) Your diet regimen (unfortunately, as anal as it may sound, it has to be specific)
3) Secondary information: When do you weigh yourself...when did you weigh yourself initially...where have you been weighing yourself...have you incorporated more liquids (esp. water) into your diet?...have you been sedentary the last 6 months or have you been active...if so, describe that activity?

Really, answers are only possible if people know your habits and patterns.

Yea, that's a good post by Michael. The only think I'd change is it takes 3500 calories of deficit to lose a pound of fat. Unfortunately, especially as you get closer to your setpoint weight, not everything you'll lose will be fat.

So I need to eat 1200 calories, and workout + run (1000 calories).
This should give me results. But its hard right now to stop overeating.
Thanks

Hi, I'm not as educated as Steve and Michael (in the fitness and nutrition arena), however, I'm pretty sure they didn't direct you to eat 1200 cals - because Steve is the biggest anti-starvation diet advocate there is on this board.

If you are running off 1000 cals. - I'm totally impressed. I only burn about 300-500 cals per day in my workouts - and that' only if I get real ambitious. If you are running that much there is no way you can sustain yourself on 1200 cals.

I'm sure they will pop back in and correct me if I'm wrong. But I think you definitely need to up your cals.

Kudos on the running!

Please please tell me you're not thinking of running for a couple of hours a day and eating 1200 kcal only! Only reason someone would do that if they wanna see how much damage they can do to their health.

Be reasonable and do not go more than 30% below your maintenance.

take a couple hours to burn 1k in calories on the treadmill ?? i do mine at seed 3 and intervals of 6-15 incline and burn 1kcalories in an hour

Steve is correct.

You're post is very helpful. We couldn't agree with Steve without YOU confirming its accuracy.

Ever thought you might be a bit too big for your boots or possibly a know-it-all who knows very little for himself except what is considered "common knowledge"? He's a law student that as far as I know has no formal education or background in fitness and he's never been overweight so he doesn't even have experience as a guide, so how did you become an expert? Enlighten me if I am incorrect.

Depends on your weight. says 200 calories a mile for a 275 pound person walking at 5mph (no incline). But a 160 pound person walking at the same speed burns only 116 calories per mile. (I believe that chart also includes base metabolic rate calories in the calculation, and you'd have burned those without any exercise.)

You're kidding me right? I posted that what, 18 days ago? Perhaps you should get mad at Steve when he confirmed a couple of my posts along the way. I think generally the idea is that people like to confirm helpful information so people have a better understanding of the principle.

However, as for the request, I'll refer you to:

a) my profile: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/members/exercisephysio.html
b) my first post here: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/newcomers/15979-im-newcomer-weight-loss-forums.html

Have a nice day, I refuse to fight with you anymore. :)
