Loose skin after fast weight loss: what to do now?

So I have a problem. My GF lost some weight (from probably 180 to around 140). This was before we met. Now she looks good, but unfortunately has the unsightly loose skin around her stomach and some under her arms. Her legs and everything else looks good.

From reading this board/other sites it seems that the problem is that she lost the weight too quickly with an unbalanced diet, and as a result lost a lot of lean body mass/muscle, so her body fat % actually went up. So what can she do now? She does a lot of cardio. She hasnt been doing weight training at all. She has been asking me for advice on how to train. I told her she should incorporate weight training into her working out, showed her some sites with workouts.

Jeez dude, are you sure it's loose skin and not pockets of fat? I went from 210 to about 160 and don't have any loose skin. Her skin should be elastic enough to handle a 40 pound weight reduction, even if it fast. How fast are we talking anyway? Loose skin is a bitch because you need an operation to get it removed which costs about seven grand.

She definitely needs to do some resistance training and in the future set more realistic goals for losing weight, otherwise she has the potential to become a yo-yo'er.

resistance training

the best thing she can do it resistance training. assuming she doesnt want to bulk up have her try lighter weights and interval training. also incorporate weights training that target multiple body parts. (squat with fly, etc) this will help her firm up. have her do ten minutes of high intensity cardio 15 minutes weights 10 minutes cardio 15 weights 10 cardio 15 weights, etc. she can also try resistance bands (i think theyre great) as part or in addition to weights and using a bosu will help with tummy musvles and balance. using core stability.also a yoga or pilates or mix class will help tone and firm. pilates is great for stomach, tris chest and shoulders.

weight training, adding muscl will helpp utilize the skin area. her ski should be elastic enough to go back on its own..just give the body time to do what it needs to do. if it trly is excessive skin, surgery is the only thing that can really get rid of it and i hear it leaves nasty scars.
