Hello guys. I'm a 22 year old male from the UK. Not sure if this is a UK or US forum, but I've seen a lot of you using "pounds" so I'm assuming most of you are from the US. Anyway, I've decided to get thinner and lose some weight. I started quite a while ago, but was quite scared to weigh myself, so just went about the diet without doing so.
Eventually I bit the bullet and weighed myself. On the 24th October I weighed 20 stones and 7lbs. As of today I weigh 19 stones 7lbs. So I've lost a stone, but I don't know if what I'm doing is healthy or beneficial to myself. For example, some foods that I always thought were "healthy" or "not that bad", I hear people saying how they're "very fattening". Anyway...
I'm currently unemployed, so instead of sitting around watching daytime TV, I thought I'd try and get in shape. This is my current day plan.
I wake up and go for an hours walk.
I come home and have a breakfast of 23g of quaker porridge oats with 170ml of water (to make the porridge) with a chopped up banana.
Later on in the morning I go for another hours walk
For lunch I have started having a butternut squash soup which I make myself. The ingredients are: 1 onion, 1 garlic clove, olive oil, butternut squash and vegetable stock. (One batch of this lasts about 4-5 days).
I then go for another hours walk in the afternoon.
For dinner I have "normal" food with my family. Different everyday. Mostly fresh homecooked stuff.
If I have a snack, I have a banana or apple and the only thing I drink is water. Completely given up alcohol. (I fell off the "wagon" a few weeks ago and put half a stone on!)
So yeah, basically wondering if I'm going about this the right way? Am I eating healthily and doing enough exercise?
Thanks.
