Looking for support

Hi everyone, my name is Parsons and I'm 20 years old.
I've been overweight for my entire life and have finally decided that it's time to get serious about weight loss. I recently finished my sophomore year of college and am now at home for the summer, feeling very sedentary and hopeless heh. But I think what I really need is commitment, and perhaps some support for people who know what it's like, people who can understand what I'm going through.
I was on a weight loss program in the past, during which I lost almost 30 pounds, and have kept it off for the last 3 years, but there is still a long way for me to go. I'm setting a goal to lose 80 pounds in a year, which rounds out to about 1.5 pounds/week.
So, thanks in advance, I guess! If you guys have any preliminary tips for me, I need all the help I can get. :)
 
First of all...read the stickies on this forum. Those will give you so much information and advice and answer many of your questions.

ALso, on my weight loss journey, I found it helpful to break my goal into several "mini-goals", perhaps every 10 pounds reward yourself with a treat, (non-edible of course!). This helped keep me motivated and made the ultimate goal less like a large mountain to climb. ANyway, that's what worked for me!

congratulations on taking the first step in wanting to change you lifestyle and be healthly. the best advice i can give u is just be consistant. the beginning is always the hardest but once you get used to the change in food as well as sticking with an excersis routine itll get easier and enjoyable. dont let anyone tell u, u cant do it you can an your worth it. no matter where youve been in the past forget about it you can in the present affect your future and the rest of your life. believe in yourself an wen it gets tough just pick yourself back up and keep going
