Looking for support to keep me motivated

Hi my name is Drew, I'm 25 years old, and for the majority of my life I've been overweight. At the moment, I currently weigh 218, and being 5'8 doesn't make carrying the weight any easier on my body. Off and on for the past two years, I've been exercising in bursts. My longest stretch of success lasted from September 2008 to November 2008 when I decided for the 784th time that enough was enough, and it was time for a change. So I alternated between Billy Blanks Tae-Bo Cardio and DDR for 5 days a week, to lessen any chance of the Plateau effect ruining my results. I was impressed to find by keeping to this regiment, I lost 24 pounds, down from 236.

It's frustrating to think that had I kept loyal to this routine, I would be at my ideal weight NOW. Instead, I slacked off after receiving a new job, and eliminated the exercise altogether. Miraculously, I only gained 2 pounds that whole year until I decided yet AGAIN in September 2009 that it was time for a change. My regiment was going great, drinking 128 ounces of water a day, and simply eating less of my favorite foods. Then , the day after my birthday, I discovered that my girlfriend had cheated on me, and simply lost all and any desire to better myself.

That's why I'm here. I was never an effective self-motivator, with anything. And hopefully you guys can offer me support and help me reignite the fire under my a$$ that has to constantly remain stoked for me to remain on track. I know I can do it, nothing can stop me. But it's always nice to have that little push every now and then.

This is a good route to go, these people can be a great support system if you let them, if you thik you might have a problem staying on track maybe start a diary on here and keep posting in it, let us know how you're doing. Good luck :)

Hey Drew, Firstly don't get down about your over-weight, it is not right approach. If you want to succeed, you need to approach differently this matter. Secondly, girlfriends coming and going and you should not put in your mind that you want to lose your wait for sake of your girlfriend. You must change your mind-set that you are doing all this efforts for yourself not anyone else. Finally look more in mirror and don't get frustrated what you see at the moment, instead just imagine what it can be if you will work for it. You can be what you want to be. Just do it.

Regards
Alexandra
