Hey everyody!

im Ann, 22 years old and i come from germany.
I already lost about 41 pounds since january this year
with the german equivalent to this weight loss community.
The people there helped me alot to stay on my plan and
to motivate me when i was down..wanting to quit.
Now i found this page online and thought i could sign up
for it too since my bf is from dallas, tx and i spent alot of
time over there already. i thought this might give me a
new big bag of motivation to reach my final goal of 165lbs
or 75kg.
soooo im looking for people to go this path with me, who are
looking for support, encouragement and a fun person to talk
to :)
feel free to write me, im looking forward to hear from you :)

I need to lose 40 pound as well. I am starting this week. Lets support eachother!... I will weight myself and let you know...

Sorry, was so excited to see my old adoptive homeland I forgot to translate....
I have lost 130 pounds and am delighted to offer any help and support. It's soooo hard getting started, equally hard staying motivated. Good for both of you for being so engaged. I am currently writing my story in blog format and sharing some of the things I know. Have a look.

Hello I am Kristie and I am 36 years old! I have recently lost a little over 50lbs and I feel great! I have a little more I want to lose. The journey has been incredible and I have learned so much. The one thing I can't get past is that everynight I wake up several times to eat. This has prevented me from reaching my goal weight and I don't know how to stop this behavior. I am also looking for support and would love to give it.
Talk to you soon.

@gymfreak

congratulations to what youve reached already and welcome to my thread :D
where do you come from? how did you lose weight?
what do you eat when you wake up at night? dont you eat enough for dinner or do you cancel it?

@ all

i have the feeling that i havent been very successful this week..i dont know
i feel pretty bad even though i didnt eat anything wrong, im sticking to my plan and i did tae bo, too.. idk what it is maybe im just getting a little sick.
but i have the hope that on the weekend ill lose some more weight, thats how it was last week..i just lost 400 grams all week and on the weekend full 1,7kg
so im hoping that it will be the same way this weekend haha
i think my problem is that i just sit around in the office all day and on the weekend i get alot of work out bc i take my dog on looong walks and am very active.
how do you guys work out? do you go to the gym or work out outside?
i need to go to the gym again but i sprained my ankle 4-5 weeks ago and it still hurts a little so i have a doctors appointment about that today we will see what he says...
have a great day!! :D i cant wait to read ur answers :)
:seeya:

Hello Ann,
You are probably doing good if you are eating right and exercising. Sorry to hear about you ankle.
when I get up in the middle of the night I eat anything I can find, mostly high calorie foods. I really hate that I do that! I recently had my husband put up all the food at night so I can't eat it and that seems to be helping.
How do you exercise?
I do cardio, usually aerobic classes at the gym or get on the treadmill pretty much everyday. I just started doing a weight lifting class twice a week and also lifting weights in the gym by myself twice a week and I really love it.
How much weight do you want to lose?
Well have a great day.
Kristie

hey kristie

id like to lose another 40 pounds and then we will see ...
i have a treadmill at home and do weights, too.
i also work out to billy blanks tae bo dvds haha thats always
fun and a GREAT workout!! but i think ill go to the gym soon, since
a friend of my moms gave me a 1 month free trial at this awesome
gym...i might as well check it out :)
my goal until christmas is to lose another 3-4 kilos...we will see
how that works out with all the christmas goodies haha
id like to buy me a dress for christmas this time..because this year
is the first year that my boyfriend is coming over here to celebrate with
my family ..i just want to feel comfortable and not worry about something
like clothes you know.
well right now im off to the mall haha to go shopping..and maybe ill find
something cute :D ill get back to you later :)
have a great day/weekend
Ann

Ann,
Well I hope you found something really cute at the mall. I keep saying once I lose so much weight I am going to buy myself something new to wear. I want to lose another 6 pounds by Christmas but yea all the goodies! It's so unfair to try to be good and eat all the right things when there is all that yummy food around ha ha!
I used to workout at home on my treadmill and then do The Biggest Loser videos and I actually got a really good workout in. Eventually I got bored with working out by myself and that's when I decided to join the gym. At first I was really scared to workout in a gym full of people watching me. I love taking the classes at the gym. I do a step class that's 1 1/2 hours long and it is a great workout!
I should be at my goal weight soon, well if I can stop eating in the middle of the night ha ha! I have lost 50 pounds so far and I would like to lose another 10 pounds!
Well talk to you soon:hat:
Kristie

hey kristie!!

weeell i found something at the mall and of course its..BLACK ..lol
at least the sweater is haha but i got a clutch in a very nice color..its
purple i guess or a dark pink very nice though!!
oh there are workout dvds of the biggest loser? man..thats not fair you
get all the good stuff over there haha!!
we only had the show twice over here but i watched both of them and
really enjoyed them haha it is such a hard work those people do ..
i really have a lot of respect for them..i dont know if id be able to be
that disciplined even for that much money u know :leaving: haha
wat i wanted to ask you..do you count calories? and do you write down
what you eat all day? i did that in the beginning when i didnt know how many
calories a certain food has but now i know how many calories the food has that i eat the most. is there something that you cook quite often? i had a phase where i ate rice and chicken with different kinds of veggies at least 4 times a week lol
and what about work? do you buy your food or do you prepare it the night before?
ok enough questions for tonight im off to bed :) haha have a great weekend :)
bye anne

Hey Ann,
Glad to hear you found something nice at the mall.
Since I have been trying to lose weight I have been doing all different things seeing what is best for me. I have found that if I eat lots of chicken, veggies, salads, tuna and some carbs plus exercise I have been losing weight pretty steady. I do write down everything I eat and how and what kind of exercise I am doing and it really helps me. I am not very good at figuring out how many calories are in certain foods.
I work from home during the week so I don't have to worry about what to eat at work.
Have you gone back to the gym yet? How is your ankle?
Do you have a journal on this web site? I was reading and that was a suggestion.
Well talk to you soon and take care!
Kristie

girl you are never alone. When I was starting out I really thought I had nobody. Honestly I thought my family was a little ashamed of me, my friends were all overweight and I figured they'd probably just discourage me, but in the end I was totally wrong about both. My friends (I wrote an entry on them in the blog) were so delighted to see me getting heathly they almost never complained they saw less of me now that I was working on becoming fit. My family were more than encouraging, even careful about what they said. so you'll see people start to come out of the woodwork to cheer you on as you never expected. And if not, this is a great place to make new friends.

As to your questions, I lost it all on my own - no special program, just a lot of trial and error and most importantly not giving in to the defeat I kept expecting around every corner. The only time you fail is if you give up. And even when something really hard comes up - like the time I decided to quit smoking and almost went crazy trying not to gain weight (I ended up losing an additional 20 pounds, by the way) - you need to give yourself extra love and understanding rather than feed your anxiety with shame and guilt - I worry I might gain weight back, I make a mistake and over eat, now I'm more worried, and a little ashamed of myself - it's a viscious cycle. You can avoid the whole thing by starting out doing this out of self care and self love rather than self loathing. It changes the whole game when what you are doing is being nice to yourself rather than punishing what you think are your indulgences.
I'm so here. get in touch anytime. A friend with some experience can do a world of good.

Hi,

Sorry for late reply. I had problem logging in.... Anyways, I am 27, 5'1 and 183lb. I tryting to lose weight by controling portion, limiting my junk food and exercising 4 times a week.

This week I have been very good. I haven't gotten my period sfor 1.5 months. I took the pregnancy test and it was negative. I took a blood test last week and will find out tomorrow. I am kind depressed and concern bcuz the doctor told me either I am pregnant or I may have polysistic ovary.... I am just praying god that I am pregnant. We've been trying for few months... Anyways that's my story so far......

Welcome and good luck with the pregnancy test! Did you just start your eating and exercise plan? You are about the same weight and and height as me when I started my plan in Feb. Best of luck, you can do it!

hey everybody!

soo i was in munich last weekend and i was really worried that i would gain weight because my friend that i visited doesnt look at what she eats AT ALL!!
i started every day of the weekend with my whole grain flakes with 0,1% milk though and i tried to take 5 hours between my meals..and well i didnt gain 1 single gram haha!! i was very surprised when i stepped on the scale monday morning lol

@khaleda
i really really hope for you that you are pregnant!! good luck with that :)

@alyshiadavies
my mom has told me that i lost alot of weight but from my dad or bro i dont hear a single word..well i guess its because they are men ..idk lol
the other day my dad and i looked at some pictures of when i was in amsterdam (back then i weighed 45 pounds more than now) and i told him that this one particular picture of me was horrible and he should delete it..he was like: well thats just how you look you have to accept that!!
that right there hit me right in the face because..cmon i lost 45 pounds already and i know myself that i dont, not at any chance, look like that anymore!! oh well i think i just shouldnt take things like that too serious since i know better...
well the good thing is that i have a lot of support from my friends.. some of them are in the same situation and i can talk to them about anything about my progress and also about the bad times (wich i dont really have that many anymore) ..i feel very motivated at the moment..so many good things are happening in my life and i just feel that i have alot of power
i feel great about myself..i know i havent reached my goal yet but i know i will and that just gives me a lot of strength :)

im glad i found all of you on this forum and i hope that all of us will reach their goals and stay motivated :) if not im here to help ;)

have a great rest of the day :)
Ann

Hi ladies, my name is Anita - I haven't been to the forum for some time, and am just catching up now )

One thing that alishiadavies said in the previous page struck me as very profound:
"You can avoid the whole thing by starting out doing this out of self care and self love rather than self loathing."
I believe this is the core of successfully losing weight and keeping it off.

@alemagne87 - 5 hours between meals is far too long for your metabolism to keep working properly at a steady pace. Plus if it is at all helpful, you should focus more on eating good quality carbs as opposed to less fat. Cornflakes (and most cereals actually) are not of good quality - too much salt, too much sugars etc... Rather start the day with a fruit and protein shake.

I've also found that doing exercises 5 times a week as opposed to 4 dramatically improves the amount of weight you lose - I know it doesn't sound like much of a difference. There are a lot of exercise programs that now allow you to get excellent results from a 30 minute workout as opposed to 1.5 hours... TaeBo is one of my favourites - I love Billy Blanks' workouts - have about 6 of them... but also core workouts and body weight workouts are amazing for fat burning.

I hope this helps a little towards your goal.
