I recently decided I was sick of being as light as I am and generally felt out of shape. I gained interest in fitness and health care and ended up here.
I'm a 20 year old male, last I checked I was 5ft 9in and weighed ~125lb, though that was a considerable time ago.
I took some diet changing measures. I was getting disgusted with the amount of fast food and high sugar drinks I was consuming on a regular basis. I would surprise myself and others with how I never gained weight considering the food I eat, but I also didn't eat often (1-2 meals, spare snacks) and averaged less calorie intake than I should be getting.
About a month ago I got into somewhat of a daily routine.
I wake up and take care of the usual morning business.
Then I do my exercise. I stretch, warm up with some push-ups, sit-ups/crunches, randomly jump and move around. Then I get on the exercise bike. I use 17mph as a base pace to keep up with and started off at 10 minute sessions. I've worked my way up to 22 minutes. At this point i'm soaked in sweat, so I rest for about 5 minutes. I do some more push-ups and crunches, then move on to bicep curls and squats. I'm done at this point, so I stretch then take a shower.
Now it's breakfast time (though it's past lunch time in actual time, I'm on a weird schedule). I incorporated eggs as a staple in most of my breakfast meals, have a banana/apple on the side, and a tall glass of milk. Then it's off to the rest of the day.
I'd say 70% of the days, I manage to get a dinner type meal. This could be anything depending on where I am, how hungry I feel, and how much I feel like spending money.
At night I eat a bowl of cereal and usually something else like a sandwich before I go to bed.
My goal here is to become overall more physically fit. Have the better body, better muscles, better cardio, faster speed, ect. but gain weight at the same time.
I know the only way to gain weight, is to increase the calorie intake. I need cheap yet effective ways to accomplish this. I started buying jars of peanuts to snack on throughout the day.
As far as working out and exercise. All I have to work with at home is myself, an exercise bike, and two 15lb dumbbells. So I'm looking for simple, yet effective ways to get fit. I'm not really looking to get bulky or bigger, I'm trying to go for the "More than meets the eye" sort of thing.
I know I'm on the right track, I just need pointers on food consumption and better efficiency exercises for people on very low budgets.
Thank you for the help.
