Looking for precise equipment

Hey guys,

I'm looking to find some equipment that will allow me to determine exactly how much calories by body burns in 24 hours at rest, and also how much calories I burn during exercising. I'm not at all interested in anything that does not precisely calculate my calories burned. This includes anything that does not physically monitor my body during or after exercise. I'm really only interested in lab equipment.

When I watch documentaries on athletes and other things related to calories burned I see equipment that includes face masks for monitoring oxygen intake, as well as blood analyzing tools and other interesting things for producing exact measurements. I have the money to spend, and unfortunately I'm not tolerant of relying on arbitrary values. Weight loss is a science (although it's rarely treated as such).

Thanks for any help you can give.

The closest you're probably going to get is a metabolic cart - which is probably what you were talking about seeing in the documentaries. If you get involved in a university study, you may be able to access a direct calorimeter, which is basically a room that measures the heat that you give off at rest or during exercise.
