Looking for accountability

Hi

Turns out I've been a member here before...who knew! Well, I'm back (typically)

I successfully shed 3 stones a year and a half ago but put on about a stone and half since Christmas just gone. Despite regular attempts to diet, I'm just not sticking to it. I've decided I need a support group of forum that can, to a degree, hold me accountable and who can encourage and advise me when necessary.

I'm toying with whether to go down the old slimming world route or count calories....any advise of personal preferences there?

Oh that's funny! Welcome back!

My suggestion would be to start a diary in the diary section. You may have done this in the past, but you can start a new one if you want to. My suggestion would be to record everything you eat and drink (honestly) for a week or two. Then take a look at what your current diet/exercise situation is and start to make small changes from there.

Here is a good post written by one of our members: Why Food Tracking Matters: And Why You'd Already Be Doing It If You Knew - Lighten Up!

I will never demonize a particular food or food group... there is so much to be said for moderation, even though that sounds really boring. A large part of keeping weight off long term is to not try to completely deprive yourself of things you love - this often just makes you want that thing more!

The long term goal is to get to a weight/size that you are comfortable with and maintain this for the long term. For this reason, I don't suggest "diets." This is not how you eat or how you want to eat (usually), so once the diet is done, people typically go back to their old habits and gain the weight back.

Hi, thanks so much for the advice! I'll check out the diary pages :)

Feel free to browse other members' diaries to see what has worked for other people. And if you decide to start one, it's yours to decide what you want to share!

Hey LL welcome!

I second PLB's advice on the diary, I am new but so far it has been helpful to me.

Best of luck

Hi LL,
