Evening, My Name Is Shannon, Have Glimpsed Over This Site Several Times Before With The "Intention" Of Coming Back And Signing Up But Never Finding The Time... (However Mention Last Min Plans To The Pub And I Would Find Myself There In A Heart Beat...) :D Looking At Trying To Make Some Life Changes This Year.... (Sort Of Like The Belated New Years Resolution Type Thing), And Weight Loss Is High Up There On The List. Hopefully Will Be Lucky Enough To Make Some Friends Along The Way That Can Help Me With This, As I Will With Them. Continue To Shoot For The Moon Because Even If You Miss You Will Land Amongst The Stars ***

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say

For it isn't your father or mother or wife
Whose verdict upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass

He's the fellow to please - never mind all the rest,
For he's with you right up to the end.
And you know that you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.

So today is the start of my new life…. The new me…… (Which is weird because when I woke up with my alarm blaring in my ear this morning, I felt exactly like the old me, tired and dreading going to work) However, the desire to keep a roof over my head and food in my belly, (calorie controlled of course!) I submitted to the daily struggle of leaving my bed and ventured out into the world. The first thing I did this morning, (besides rolling out of bed at 6am, which is rare indeed…. in the past you would have had more luck finding the fountain of youth somewhere in the deep Siberian Jungle then see my rise before 8am) was take my dog for a long walk. I tossed up between taking my Siberian Husky Duke, or my turtle Armani for the walking session and decided that the greater good would come by taking Duke, well that and I didn’t want to be put to shame by a turtle overlapping me on our walk around the neighbourhood. In the end though it seems that I should have probably stuck with the turtle, as Duke was more interested in finding places to pee then to help me reach my time trial goal of under an hour. At least by the time we finished our walk one of us were considerably lighter, but I think that has to do with the endless toilet breaks we endured throughout the morning!

My car went into the panel beaters this morning, (after my brand new car lost an argument with an elderly lady’s car after she decided that she was a little more important then the rest of the population and red traffic lights no longer mean stop to her, but scream through the intersection like a bat out of hell and watch the carnage and mayhem unfold.) Dropping my car off at the panel beater was like watching my eldest child go to school on their own…. but coming back with plastic surgery, which I can only hope won’t happen to my child on their road to a higher education. For now I remain carless which means for a week which will be resulting in a lot more walking, which means I am going to be a lot closer to my weight loss goal! Well that is the plan anyways! Have volleyball tonight, playing the Ugly Betties so will have to see how that pans out. We have beaten them twice already this season so should probably take this out tonight without to much difficulty. But even the greatest plans can go astray, and with me they normally do. So we will see how I survive my first day, or at least my second walk with Duke, if its anything like this morning stay tuned for my next entry….. “Siberian Husky Looking For Good Home.”

It doesn't make any difference whether what you face is something that affects your work, your personal relationships, your sense of security, your appraisal of self-worth, or your appearance--the way you think about your situation largely determines whether you will do anything about it and what you will do.

Heh heh, welcome to the boards Shannon. When you get time, check out - I cycled 20 miles cross country with him yesterday!

Welcome...and I love your humor :p
I know exactly what you mean by saying you should have taken the turtle...I've taken my dog for a "run" and ended up stopping at every weed, tree, flower, bush and stick to "mark" our trail!! I informed him I knew the way and we WERENT going to get lost!! He still insisted on peeing...blah...oh well what to do...keep on running!!!
