Long post but need help PLEASE!!!

HELLO and seasons greetings everyone!!!

At about the winter of 2006 I stood about 215lbs and 5'6. I cracked down and in about 5 months I dropped to about 168 lbs with healthy eating and intense incline walking about 4-5 times a week. At that point I stopped really thinking about trying to lose weight. And found my self naturally choosing healthy meals all the time and working out maybe a day or two a week. Well eventually I did not realize but I started adopting a bad eating habit again and started binge eating and getting into a habit of eating extremely well and exercising for two or three days and then completely horribly binging for the rest of the week. Not necessarily bad food like fast food and junk. Still stuff like whole grain everything, organic cheeses, good meat n all but in MASSIVE amounts and at bad times of the day. My appetite was preposterous for my size. Anyways so about end of November this year I realized my weight was getting up there again and I was about 186 lbs and decided I needed to get back into action. So first I started working out every day of the week, this time running for an hour, not really changing my crazy appetite. Week or two went by and no weight loss. So then I thought I should cut back and started eating maybe half as much and no eating after 6:00ish. Maybe having one day of the week as a splurge day. In theory this should have worked as it was pretty much my weight loss routine for when I managed to lose tons of weight a couple years back. Only this time running instead of incline walking and every day. Check weight a week ago and I'm still 186. So then I decide maybe I really need to detox and eat tiny amounts and only 3 times a day. Which brings me to today. Tomorrow is my weight check day and I'm scared because with even with all this intense exercise and minimal eating I don't feel or look like I've lost weight.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe I'm over exercising. But I don't know about that since I feel incredible and invigorated. After a workout I feel fantastic. Not dizzy, lethargic or light headed. In general I feel great but I still look chubby, with a far from flat belly. WTF is going on here? I'm a guy BTW. Thanks to anyone who reads all this!!!!

Sometimes the body reacts in ways that are hard to understand. My advice is to mix up your exercise a bit - some running, some cycling or rowing machine, some body weight training / dumbell muscle training. But the most important thing - don't stress about it, if you're eating healthy and not too much, and you're exercising then your weight will start coming down, just have faith. If you start doing too much exercise too soon, and diet too much then the effects won't be good in the long term. slow and steady wins the race. :)

You are probably not eating enough calories when you try to cut back, so then you are binging in response. You need to find the happy medium. This post from my blog may help:

Thanks for taking the time to read all that guys! Well I checked the scale this morning and I am 183lbs. I think I just put my body through a lot of stress this past year. Detoxing and working out for 2 days and then completely re-toxing for the rest of the week can't be good for the metabolism. And maybe my body went in to shock or something thus making it hard to get into fat burn mode this time around. I was really getting scared there for a bit. Exited to see what the scale will say next week.

stress is hard on your body and will indeed make fat loss harder, and also messes with brain chemistry making you more likely to seek solace foods and binge on them.

do what you can to stay calm and peaceful in life. exercise CAN be helpful but you might need to change the type of exercise that makes you less stressed. kickboxing type cardio classes are GREAT for venting stress (as just one example). I have a heavy bag at home for tossing some kicks and punches around.

Thanks a lot guys!

Is running every day for an hour too much though? Should I cut down to 5 days a week? Is this why results are coming so slowly?
