Liz's Diary to Turning Her Life Around

Hi all! :wavey: I'll try to keep this updated as I go. I'm 2 weeks into my dieting and exercising and I feel better than ever.

A little background info... I'm a 27 year old woman (almost 28) who has a job where I sit at a computer all day long. I'm over the whole night scene of going to clubs to dance. I'm a homeowner and a car addict. So just from that the extent of my working out in the past has either been doing laundry or washing my cars. I've allowed work to take up a LOT of my time (I have a regular 9-6 job as well as running my own Internet company) and have gotten bogged down with friends that don't like to do anything more than sit around drinking or watching movies.

I've never been the skinniest chic on the block, but I've had my healthier days, that's for sure and I need to get back to those healthy days (in more ways than one... not just dieting or exercise, but life all around). I'm looking for the positives to come back to my life (or new positives I should say) and it's all going to start with my energy levels and feeling good about myself from the inside out.

Height - 5'2"
Two weeks ago - 177 pounds
Current weight - See ticker in my signature for current weight
My goal - 120

My Diet Plans:
7am - Zero Carb Protein shake
10am - 1 serving of Grape Nuts with Skim Milk (most of the time I can't even finish this)
12.30pm - Small salad with sliced turkey & one serving of either whole wheat pasta or brown rice.
3pm - Slim Fast shake
6pm - 1 chicken breast & one serving of either carrots, green beans, or corn
9pm - Zero Carb Protein Shake

My Exercise Plans:
  • Morning - Each morning after the 7am protein shake I will do a walk around my neighborhood (about 20 minutes long) or go to the gym and do a 20 minute lite walk on the treadmill.
  • Evening - In the evening around 7pm, I will head to the gym for a warm up walk, training with a personal trainer (3 days a week), and cardio.
    • Mondays - Legs Only (no cardio)
    • Tuesdays - Cardio Only
    • Wednesday - Arms & Abs with Cardio
    • Thursday - Cardio Only
    • Friday - Shoulders & Back with Cardio
    • Saturday - Cardio Only
    • Sunday - Day of rest

I'm giving myself till the end of 2007 to accomplish my weight goal. I can already feel the energy boost. My motivation is simply turning my life around. As I mentioned it's time for the positives to come back or to gain new positives in life. I have some local friends that are looking to do the same so I like to think that we are helping each other with the motivations. I think what will be best for me is working with a personal trainer... if I have appointments I won't break them (it's just the business sense in me).

I look forward to any comments on my plans or any suggestions anyone might have.

So yesterday went well just as all of last week, until the evening hit. I barely slept last night due to a friend's flight at the airport being cancelled and rescheduled for the early AM. Didn't get to bed till about 1am as I picked them up once they found their flight was cancelled, woke up at 3.30am for about an hour to take them back to the airport, and then got up again at 7.30am as a neighbor was staying at my house for the night due to family being in town and too many people in their house. Not to mention, yesterday was legs day so the two times I did get to lay down to catch some sleep it took a while to actually go to bed since my legs were still throbbing.

Today will be a little rough with the energy levels and I might have to cut tonight's cardio a little short to get to bed early and get back on track.

Overall though, I'm still kickin'. :)
 
You're doing great considering all you have going on at your house.

Getting sleep is really important... being well rested and getting good amoutns of sleep is very important! Listen to what your body says:)
 
It sure is important. Unfortunately, I think after last night's leg training I think I need to change up my resting day to be Tuesdays instead of Sunday. I'm feeling the quads tightening all during the day. After work I'm gonna try relaxing in some warm bath water and a little epson salt. If that helps maybe I'll just take tonight lite and walk around the neighborhood. I don't want to cause any injuries.
 
Alright, so in an hour I'm headed to the airport for a 3 day work trip to NYC. I've got the next 3 days already planned out and hope all goes well to stick with the plan. I've packed enough of my supplements, mid morning snack, for lunch I know exactly where I'm going for a healthy salad, going to pick up some slim fast shakes on my lunch break for my mid afternoon snack, and dinner will be the kicker to eat healthy while out with the co-workers. I know they will be doing a lot of drinking before and during dinner so that will be fun to resist, but I have to do it. The hotel a bunch of us are staying in has an amazing gym and I've already convinced one of my co-workers that they are working out with me Mon night, Tues morn, Tues night, and Wed morn. I'll report back on Thurs morning with how it all goes!
 
Its great that you planned ahead. It will make it easier when it comes time to make decisions:)

Uggghhh.... well I'm glad that trip is over. I'm sooooo happy that I planned ahead and brought some meals with me. During the daytime I stuck to the plan of action, but with the company providing dinner to us Mon and Tues I did my best at picking out the healthier items. I didn't make it to the gym Mon as we didn't get back to the hotel till around 2am, but I did get to make up for it Tues morn and Tues evening. Didn't get to make it Wed morn and with my almost 3 hour flight delay tonight I didn't make it home till after my gym closed.

All in all, I'll say I did semi-ok. Back on course now....
 
Well, time to face the repercussions... I fell off the wagon. :( I allowed other things in life to take away my focus. Time for me to jump back on and kick some a$$.

Just stoppin by to say that good on you for dusting yourself off and gettin back to the A$$ kicking! :)
