Light Headed? Abnormal?

Hey there,

As most of you know i"ve been doing quite intense cardio for about 2 weeks now. I now feel a bit light headed and I took today off because of this. I eat tiny slices of turkey for breakfast, and for lunch I have some more turkey and an apple. My meal plans seem fairly normal, so I'm wondering why I'm a bit light headed. Any ideas?

Like today, while I was working at school, I was sitting on a table and lay down on the table for just a mere 10 seconds. When I got up i felt the most light headed that I have ever been.

That's all u eat for breakfast is a small slice of turkey??? Maybe you should eat oatmeal (not the packet kind) or some type of healthy cereal or even eggs whites. I know im not that educated on all of this but can u show me ur meal plan?

Manderus is correct. Although packet kind is fine if you get plain (original) flavor.

If you take tryptophan (main amino acid found in turkey) on an empty stomach and with no other foods, it is clinically proven to make you sleepy. Also, simple carbs by themselves will do similar things. The key is to have a good mixture. Short answer: Turkey by itself for breakfast is horrible. You need a combination of protein, carbs, and good fats.

Eating healthy is the key to the kingdom.

Hopefully ABear or one of the other "nutrition kings" will chime in on this one.

I'm a firm believer that breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day. You'll need the energy all throughout the day, and hopefully you're getting your workouts in early so you have even more energy there.

It sounds like you might be eating far too little. Don't forget to get your carbs, which are primarily used in high intesnity workouts and for the first 20-30 minutes of endurance workouts.

allot of people think that cutting carbs and skipping breakfast will help them lose weight, infact it will do the exact opposite, it will put you body into starvation mode and all the calories that you actually do comsume will get turned to fat and your energy levels will decrease, greatly limiting the amount of cardio you can do.

i've had that dizziness feeling twice before and both times it was low blood sugar. chances are you're not eating enough. like others have said, a small bit of turkey isn't enough for breakfast. your body has been starved all night and needs a good bit of replenishing in the morning ESPECIALLY if you are going to be working out!

eat alot more in the morning. get a good pile of carbs in you! even your lunch meal isn't ideal especially after that breakfast of yours. if you're wanting to stick with the turkey, turn it into a sandwich instead. i have a big bowl of cereal in the morning and it seems to do the trick for me.

actually, what they said is probably correct too. but dehydration can cause light headedness too. like if youve ever just been sitting their, and your vision just kind of goes blurry on ya for a second, you need more water. so make sure to drink plenty of water too.

Sebani - I've noticed your other posts... will you please post exactly what you eat on a daily basis? For example: breakfast - turkey; snack - apple & turkey; etc....

with the current info, I suspect you're not eating enough, and having low blood sugar problems, which would make you physically tired, light headed, and in extreme cases could cause an irregular heart beat (I had a friend many years ago who, due to his bad diet, had very low blood sugar. They thought he had a heart condition until they ran blood tests and looked at a weekly food journal. They prescribed that he eat a little more often due to his fast metabolism, and try to get more exercise, because that helps the body regulate blood sugar levels, IF you have enough food intake to have blood sugar to regulate :)

Today is currently lunchtime as I type. So far I've had:

Breakfast: like 10 slices of turkey/ham, and 4 tiny chocolate pieces, and a banana muffin
Lunch: 10 slices of turkey/ham, a banana muffin, and an apple.

For dinner i'll probably get a salad or soemthing along with plenty of protein.

I drink plenty of water, so no worries about that. Today, i've had quite a bit of sugar.

So is it not healthy enough?

No, not healthy enough.

Chocolate, muffins, eating only 3 times per day - all small, small meals ->NOT healthy. Yes, you're getting plenty protein, but you need much, much more than that - a well-balanced diet is crucial

all i can say is yikes! slices of deli meat, muffins & chocolate for breakfast?! so you're looking at virtually no fiber, probably large amounts of fat and sugar & lot's of salt/sodium.. i would re-think things with the info available on this site and others.

Okay, do you guys have any suggestions as to what kind of foods have good amounts of fibre? I might get some fibre tablets. My mom used to get them.
