Tourists go hiking in Tas totally unprepared. It's crazy.

Tourists go hiking in Tas totally unprepared. It's crazy.

I think part of the problem is experienced hikers going to somewhere new without actually understanding the local conditions, Some areas in Tas would certainly have deadly conditions, but the causes are completely different, being prepared for monsoon rain and cyclones does not make you prepared for ice and snow.

This morning when I sat down to do an online assessment for my psychology unit for Uni, I was expecting a 1 hour challenge, being open book I had all my study materials at hand. When I got into the test I Aced the whole test in 7 minutes (instant results) with no need to check anything in my study material, it is now doing my head in trying to understand why the quiz was so easy.

I also nailed the non assessment tutorial quiz on Wednesday night while others in the class struggled with the concepts (class discussion after each questions) the questions were projected onto the board and we had 10 seconds to answer using our phones, there is also a class leader-board, where I came out on top.

I think I am going to do ok in this subject, but I still need to come up with an interesting public figure to psychoanalyze for the major assignment.

I wouldn't doubt your ability to blitz an assessment. Why are you wondering about it, Tru? Of course, you're nailing these assessments. You will do much better than ok.
An "interesting" public figure to psychoanalyze? Barnaby Joyce? :smilielol5:That could do your head in!

Just got an e-mail from Uni about a student waiting for test results for the virus, will know more when the results are released and we find out which campus.

I think we all think that it's inevitable that we get it in one degree or another but hope none of us gets it badly. Being healthy should help.

Terrific about acing the test! Not so terrific about a possible case of COVID-19 at Uni. Online learning can cover a lot, but also just won't be able to cover lots in your course.
an interesting public figure to psychoanalyze
What a wild assignment! And so many to choose from... though actually now, I'm racking my brains, trying to think of someone outside politics or show business. Maybe a very sober analysis of a diet/fitness/wellness guru?

Your wealth of experience in many areas (giving you a lot of relevant memories to tie new information to) added to your excellent study habits mean it´s no surprise at all you´re doing very well.

*@%^%@$ Peter Dutton

He spent time at the Morton bay campus of the Uni on Monday Morning while infected, I then spent that afternoon in a tutorial group huddled together examining plants in the rain with students from that campus, I feel like crap, I hope it is just a common cold but I now know who to blame if I have the virus.

Oh, Tru :svengo: I hope you don't have it! I wish I wasn't travelling next Friday. I feel sick with worry.

I hope you don't get exposed to when you travel :(

I was just talking to a friend online who works at the local hospital, the hospital is at capacity because every doctor with patients showing flu symptoms is sending their patients there for testing, including the doctors down the coast where all the big hospitals are. I don't understand why they need to send to a tiny regional hospital when they have the big new university hospital and the big new private hospital (across the road from the uni hospital) to be able to send people to.

I will just stay at home until the uni has done it's contact trace, unless my health seriously deteriorates.

Yes, about staying home, but please don't wait for "seriously" - head off if it deteriorates noticeably, even if not seriously, and especially if there's fever.

"The most common symptoms at onset of illness were fever (40 [98%] of 41 patients), cough (31 [76%]), and myalgia or fatigue (18 [44%]); less common symptoms were sputum production (11 [28%] of 39), headache (three [8%] of 38), haemoptysis (two [5%] of 39), and diarrhoea (one [3%] of 38)."

still feeling bad, staying home when I can, had to do the canoe and kayak stuff yesterday, I am a little sunburned on my face and the backs of my hands despite sunscreen which I don't usually wear because it irritates my skin badly.

my 2 subjects are slowly moving online, this is the last face to face tutorial for psychology tomorrow, lecture for outdoor adventure education is online this week as is the tutorial and may also be online for the rest of the semester, not sure about the field trips yet.

Considering going to get tested, I know foreign students on field trip waiting for results won't know till tomorrow at the earliest for their results.

Thanks for replying - I'm glad you can stay at home mostly from now on - and that you have all the knowledge and savvy needed to look after yourself! I hope a restful time sees you fully well again soon.

If it's possible to be tested I would, Tru. Take care.
