Lift, Train, Fitness

yep my shoulder is a mess of chronic Subacromial bursitis and Adhesive capsulitis, the radiologist and my GP believe the cause is the calcification (Calcific tendinitis) of my supraspinatus and arthritis.

All of these conditions cause severe chronic pain.

The Adhesive Capsulitis is apparently quite rare, with it appearing in around 3% of the general population.

Tomorrow I have my appointment to have the CT guided injection into the shoulder joint capsule, CT guided is more involved than the more common ultrasound guided injections.
Sounds like you´re getting the best possible treatment.

Very sorry to hear this - I hope the injections really help address the problems. Also, I saw something about university classes - sounds interesting! Is it sports science?

Yes, I am enrolled to study sports and exercise science at Uni, at the end I should be qualified as an Exercise Physiologist. Either working with patients who have chronic health conditions or working with elite athletes to prevent injury and improve performance.

Wonderful! Such interesting work, science-wise, in an evolving field - and so much chance to help people in all ways. Best wishes for success in the studies! :)

Hope all goes great with the injection and that it works great for you. You'll make a wonderful Exercise Physiologist - everything I have ever asked you about you explain so clearly and succinctly. That's so awesome you are pursuing that!

I hope the injection goes well too & I think it's excellent that you will be an EP. I wish you were closer! I think I will book another ap't with the EP I went to last year now that I feel like I'm getting back on track.

Injection done, I am not supposed to do anything for the rest of the day and I have a bit of low level brain fog, so will not be trying to think to hard for the rest of the day and certainly no driving.

Fingers crossed it'll do you as much good as medically possible - plus a heaping helping of placebo effect because I'm not above encouraging that as long as I know I'm also doing all possible real stuff.

It will take time to see how well it has all worked, Pain levels will be higher for a few days for recovery from the injection after the short term anesthetic wears off completely. The entire process to an hour and painful despite the anesthetic, Radiologist commented that the more inflamed the joint capsule the more painful the injection would be. It is a good thing I was strapped to the machine lol.

Eating today has not been too bad today considering the injection today and the emotional turmoil over the last few weeks.

Breakfast - Nil, Did not want to add to the likely queezy response from injection
Lunch - Rib Eye with mushroom and onion
Snack- Biltong (far less sugar and other additives compared to Jerky)
Dinner- Will be some sort of mince meal with veg (whatever hubby cooks while I am unable to use my arm, Docs order to keep arm down by my side as much as possible to ensure better absorption of the injection)
Supplements - I need to remember to take my Vit D and Magnesium.

Did not track today, It will take a little bit of time to be fully back on track.

This afternoon shoulder is showing vast improvement in both pain levels and and active ROM, I need to come up with the cash to get some physiotherapy done working on Passive ROM and loosening scar tissue.

Started some simple band external rotations within pain and ROM limit, It is going to take some hard work rebuilding the shoulder back to full ROM and strength, Broke my 5 kg band (loop type) so single strand would have been around 2.5 kg of resistance for exercise.

Completed 100 squat migari (Full squat followed by a front kick)
Was going to do some hip thrusts however I was unable to secure my 54 kg bands to something that would not move :(

This afternoon shoulder is showing vast improvement in both pain levels and and active ROM...
Oh, that's great! :) Hope the money and the further physio can be sorted out in short order.
