Lifestyle change... and a question

Hello Everyone.
Last year, in February, I finally gained the will power to make a lifestyle change. After unsuccessful tries at dieting, I examined what normally made me fail. It seemed depriving myself of certain things I enjoyed did me in. I decided to start eating healthy, and set a calorie limit for each day. I also do at least a half hour of cardio each day.

Anyways, it is now March 2008, and I am beginning to feel great. I think I have lost over 100 pounds. That is my question. I didn't weigh myself when I began last year. I was 6' and had a 60" waistline, and 24 years old. I now am down to a 46" waistline, and still steadily decreasing. I weigh 290 pounds now. It seems right now I am losing 3-4 pounds per week. Can anyone estimate how much weight I have lost, or is that impossible?

Although this is my first actual post, I have been reading these boards for the past couple of months. The before and after pictures have given me a lot of motivation.

I have one other question. I have mainly been focusing on cardio. Would it be a good idea to do some strength training? I have an adjustable weight bench and weights to go along with it. If anyone can make any suggestions, that would be awesome.

Spend some time in the exercise forum and the stickied threads -there's a bunch of great info on strength training - and it's never too soon to start that...

It's tough to say what your startig weight would have been... I'm female and a few inches shorter than you - my starting weight was 383 - and I had a 51 inch waist...

Weight loss at the begining tends to put up higher numbers - so while you're steady at 3 -4lbs a week - you might have been a bit higher than that when you started.. .

100 is a good number to go with though -and it honestly doesn't matter what the starting number was - your waist size change is pretty impressive...
