Life After Weight Loss

Well, I have not reached my goal yet, but I sure as hell plan to keep it off!!! It has been hard to loose it, mentally and physically, and I'm not letting go of my success!!!

Basically, the trick is that you absolutely CANNOT go back to eating exactly like you were eating before you were dieting. That's the mistake people make. And you also cannot quit exercising. I expect to be able to splurge a bit more often then I do now, and I plan on weigh myself about 1ce a month to monitor where I am. Basically, the weight maintenance is going to have to be on the back of my mind all the time, as well as eating smaller portions. However, it is not as bad as you might think, and you don't necessarily have to count calories for the rest of your life. If you are making a lifestyle change, and do the weight loss thing for a long time, you will know by the time maintenance period comes along to eat enough to fill you up, but not overeat, i.e. still keep your portions small. And if you keep exercising 3x week, the chances of keeping the weight off are much bigger!!!

Thank you for the reply. These days I find that my weight is VERY sensative to exercise. If I let up on the exercise the scale tells me right away.

First, I do not mean to offend anyone or come off as being harsh. I'm just one to say what I think, although I do try to maintain some politeness.

troutman, I have seen several posts where you have basically stated that if you can't keep the weight off, what's the point. Wrong attitude. It's just like everything else. You can plan for the future but you don't know for sure what's going to happen. You have to take this one day at a time. Yes, future goals are very important. Mini-goals are also very important. It just seems to me that you're in the wrong mindset to actually succeed because you think you're going to fail at some point. Worry about the here and now. Set mini-goals. Work for them. You know where you want to be. Don't obsess over it and kick yourself everytime you slip. Every time I get on my bike and pedal up a long climb, I know that the next time I will try to climb it just a few seconds faster. I know I can't be Lance Armstrong so I shoot for the best I can do at that time.

Worry about what you need to do to lose it and by the time you get there you will have a much easier time knowing what works and what causes you to put the weight back on.

Again, I don't mean to offend but my friend, you are going about this the wrong way. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to PM me.

To keep the weight off you need to continue doing what yove been doing, wich is basically eating "right" and exercising regularly. It is alot easier to put weight on than it is to take it off, so in order not to revert back to your original weight, you need to have made a lifestyle change not just a temporary diet to loose some excess poundage.
Just my 2 cents :)
