Let's see how keto works.. one month hardcore cut with weekly pics!

I did forcefeed myself during this carb load. Although I didn't go over my maintance calories yesterday I was very full and force fed myself. Today I went over maintance by about 200 and was full all day.

I think it's because my metabolism got so slow from defecit dieting. My stomach must have shrank too.

Honestly I didn't like this carb load phase at all...

I was really looking forward to it, but it sucks not eating any fat. I am looking forward to getting back on keto tommorrow. I wouldn't mind staying on keto for a really long time... but apparently a more "balanced diet" is recommended because the effects of a neverending ketogenic diet are "unknown" (this came from "The Ketogenic Diet")

I will probably try to bulk after this is over using a ketogenic diet just to see how it works.

There are pro's and con's of doing that.

The pro's are that you will gain very little (if any) fat while bulking

The con's are that without carbs you won't gain as much muscle...

I won't do any more carb load phases for the remainder of my cut...

I woke up this morning still really full from the day before. I didn't want to have my normal breakfast so I just made a 4oz fish, only about 100 calories.

By the time my classes ended at 11:30 my stomach was growling (usually I lift then), so I came home and had some pepperoni and steak. I will wait a couple hours to digest then I will go get my upper body day in.

My body is still really sore all over from the depletion workout.

I lifted as hard as I usually do but didn't do any HIIT... just didn't feel up to it at all.

Plus I am doing my three hour cardio session tonight, so I figured I may as well save my juice for that.

I am so glad to be eating the keto diet again.... my metabolism has come back as well!

Ah, it's good to be on keto. I nearly ate an entire package of pepperoni throughout the day, delicious. Not the healthiest food choice, but meh, I was craving it.

Also had some delicious steak, cottage cheese, and some flax seed.

I am going to make some flax bread tommorrow, I think it will turn out better than last time.

heh. I will put the mix into a cake pan this time and just cut it into pieces instead of expecting it to rise into a loaf.

I did my cardio tonight and it felt really good. My legs were still very tight and sore from my depletion workout, but I did plenty of jumping jacks anyway.

It's kinda weird that you were lacking energy more when you were filling up with carbs. OK maybe not weird, but not what you would expect. Ok maybe just not what I would expect. But I don't know anything.

This post was pointless.

I hope you have a good day :D

Haha, yeah, kitty.

Some people respond poorly low carbs and others respond poorly to high carbs. I can't quite pinpoint it, but I think some of the reason I'm doing better with my fat loss this time around is that I'm actually consuming considerably more carbohydrates (and some of them really refined) than I had previously. My %'s tend to be around 25/25/50 P/F/C on any given day.

In the past I had been eating at or under 30% C and felt awful. I had no energy at all. And nearly 2/3 of that 30% was from high fiber vegetables that most people don't even count, so it was likely more like 15% or less C, while I wasn't eating enough fat to support a ketogenic diet. No wonder I felt like I was dying. I kept that up for over 3 months. Looking back, I realize that I was putting myself through what the craziest professional bodybuilders will eat like, and only for brief periods before a major contest. :11doh: The calmer approach I've got going now has been much more effective thus far, and more importantly, actually increases my energy. This seems to be the case for rws and keto as well.

Then again, it's very possible that my current progress is in spite of the quality and quantity of carbs I'm getting.

What's obvious, though, is that keto is the magic wand of fat loss for rws. :D

I was looking at this post and thinking "where did I say I was lacking energy during my carb up?"

But I am guessing that you were referring to when I was talking about cutting with carbs in my diet???

Yeah, that does seem weird.

RWS you are an example to ALL!

Whoa..

So I decided to check and see if I was in ketosis yet using the ketostix...

I didn't think there would be any chance that I would be in ketosis yet, but what the hell, I was already testing positive!

That is a very quick switching time, less than 36 hours. And who knows if I would have tested positive yesterday too..?

So that's good news for me. Won't have to worry about the carb up ruining things in the future as far as it taking a long time to switch back to ketosis.

I made some flax seed bread today and it turned out much better! Looked almost like a real loaf.. heh.

I will post a picture of it tommorrow along with my 3 week progress pics!

I also made some keto chocolate ice cream tonight too, low carb of course... I have to freeze it first, so I will tell you guys about the taste tommorrow.

I am going to try making keto cookies soon, and pancakes...

Heh, I don't even eat that kind of food on a regular diet (or crave it), but it's fun "cheating" the diet by making foods that we shouldn't be able to have.

Bread I like of course, though.

How do you make keto cookies..wouldn't the main ingredients be from carbs?

You would think so, but ketoers have found ways around it :)

Here is an example:

3/4 cup Smart Balance natty PB (3g net carbs per serving)
1/4 cup I'm Healthy SoyNut Butter (1g net carbs per serving)
1/2 cup Splenda
1/2 cup All Bran BranBuds
1 egg

mix together cook at 325, makes 24 cookies

And

Ginger Snaps

2 cups almond flour
1/4 lb (1 stick) softened butter
1/2 cup granular Splenda
2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar Twin
2 teaspoons water
1 teaspoon sugarfree vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt

etc. There is a bunch of them..

meh, three week "progress" pics.

I didn't lose any weight this week, I think the carb up really screwed me over. But at least I learned a lesson from it, don't stuff yourself on the carb up day, and that many carbs isn't necessary.

Here's the pictures though:
