Hi :) I'm Kate.
I have had a few diaries on here. The first one was back in July 2011 and it was just the best thing that happened to me. I lost a shed load of weight and went from a size 20 to a size 10-12. Everyone on here was totally awesome and the support I got was what made me actually manage to lose so much weight. Then when I reached my target I kinda totally lost focus and yo-yo'ed again but not more than 10lb or so.
I tried another diary last year but that fizzled out and here I am, in need again.

I had an amazing Christmas and ate like a pig so I feel terrible and massive. I'm bursting out of my few size 14 clothes and am living in slobby joggers.

Time to do something!!
I had decided that today I was going to TRY and get back on track. I have written the word TRY because I have been putting too much pressure on myself to lose weight and fast for over a year and it just isn't working. I think I need to take one day at a time and set myself little goals. I have been like 'I will lose a stone in a month' 'I will go running 3-4 times a week' etc etc and I've managed a few days, maybe even a week but never longer.

The reason I decided to TRY doing another diary is that I had a load of emails this morning saying that someone had commented on a few of the diaries I had subscribed to and it was kinda like a sign to have another go. TETEMCG I wanna say a massive thank you for getting me back on here. I'll check out your diary and i'll also message the others on facebook and see if I can get them back too.

OK. Another thing to make this that bit harder for me.........Today is day 6 of NOT SMOKING!!!!!! What the hell am I doing, trying to do both at the same time. I'm TRYING to not smoke (again, trying not to pressure myself) and so far so good :)

I got a FITBIT for Christmas. It is an awesome all singing, all dancing pedometer thing and I'm using it to keep track of calories burnt etc. Last time I did a diary I would put what I had eaten etc. This time I am going to put the stuff my fitbit says.

Steps:- 13919
floors:- 27 (That's flights of stairs)
Miles walked/run :- 6.48
Calories burnt:- 2253
Calories eaten:- 955

I went for a run with Kayleigh from work after work. (I use to run when I did my first diary......before then I did nothing) it's been ages since I did any running and we did interval running 3x7 min run 3x3 min walking. It felt good :)

Oh Kate, I love, love, love having you back, even though I know you think it's for the wrong reason that you are. I have missed you too! There are lovely people in here & it is still a very supportive & friendly place. Will catch up more soon. My computer is playing up & it is very frustrating. I am having to sign in ALL the time, to EVERYTHING, including Chrome & have "lost" all my pics & docs & am a guest on my own computer. I will take it with me to Launceston next week, if I can wait that long. :D :D :D Kate is back!!! xoxo Cate

aweee thanks! I just know that if it wasn't for this place I couldn't do it! Glad I can follow this diary from the beginning!! I have a bodybugg myself it was a great help ....but like everything else you one get what you put in to it!

BIG CONGRATS ON THE SMOKING!! My mom is a lifetime smoker and I see how its aged and hurt her health! and I feel helpless. You are doing something not only for you but for those who love you!! So that is awesome!!

You're back! YAY! I quit smoking 2 months ago TODAY! You can do it :) I feel so much better for doing it. Good luck!

Hi guys :)

Another good food day and day 7 of not smoking. I know that this is a weight loss forum and not a 'not smoking' forum but for me, being able to actually lose weight while not smoking is huge for me. I didn't want to give up! I like smoking but Mark (my other half) and Jack (our son) hate me smoking and now that I'm 40 I really do need to think of the health aspects. Anyway, enough about my NOT smoking.

I am doing a 'bootcamp' thing. I did one before Christmas and lost 10.5lb but put it all back on really quickly and some!! This one is very low/no carb. basically all you can eat is meat, fish, eggs, green salad and green veg!!!! oh, and just drink water! It is for 28 days with 5 exercise classes too. I really struggled last time actually eating because I don't eat a lot of meat and I got totally sick of the food but I had already signed up for this one before xmas.
It started yesterday but I was not going to give up coffee and fruit so I am kinda doing it alongside calorie counting. Basically I am going to not eat high carb food like bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and junky food for the 28 days and then just calorie count after that.

I am really making an effort to be much more active so this morning I took the dog for a 10 min power walk (I leave for work at 7.15 so don't get much time before work, I'm too lazy to get out of bed to do exercise lol) Then I went for a 30 min walk in my lunch break and did my workout class this evening!!

Todays FITBIT results

14493 steps
31 flights of stairs
6.61 miles travelled
2440 calories burnt
1070 calories eaten

CATE

I know that this place changed my life a few years ago. I really need to keep posting and reading to keep me going.
Sorry to hear about your mum. I am glad that I've made the decision to 'have a go' at stopping. I'm doing good so far :)

SUNFLOWER
WOW!!!! Yay you! That is really cool that you have done 2 months. It's great to hear from someone who is feeling better for it too. Hopefully I can brag about it when I reach 2 months.
How have you managed with weight while not smoking? I am pretty scared that i'll gain, that's why I am trying hard with the exercise. I heard that giving up slows your metabolism.

Hi guys

It's late and I've just got in so wont have chance to post about my day and I'm out doing exercise classes after work till late tomorrow but I wanted to stop by so you didn't think that I had given up after 2 days. All going good and i'll tell you all about it when I get chance.

Love and hugs to all xoxoxo

She's back! :D I'm very impressed that you are tackling losing weight & giving up smokes at the same time. Re: the metabolism thing & giving up smoking- this is an interesting article-http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Smoking_weight_gain_and_quitting
It's a Victorian State government site & is not trying to sell anything.
GO KATE! xoxo

I only gained about 4lbs. I've replaced it with diet coke and lots of sugar-free mints! Everyones commented how much better my skin and hair looks--stick with it and you'll see the benefits soon! You will do it. I've saved £280 in 2 months as well :D
