I just got a gym membership and thought this would help motivated me more to keep up with the diet/exercise!



About my self:


You can call me Chazz, I weight 399 I am 6-3.


I have been eating 2000-2500 calories a day with exercise starting this week, My weigh in days will be on Friday.


Here is what I have been doing at the gym:


Treadmill 3.0-3.5 with a incline for 40-50 mins Mon,Tues,Weds,Fri,Sat

I do weights on my upper body on Mon,Weds,Fri (4 Sets of 10 reps on everything I do)

I do weights on my lower body on Tues,Friday,Sat (4 Sets of 10 reps on everything I do)




Goals:


Weigh 370 by Jan 1st,2012

Keep the gym fun and dont get burned out

Start preparing meals in advance

Save 1k dollars a month



Off to the gym!

Thanks for posting a reply on my journal! Good luck on your exercise endeavour!


Incline is a good idea for the treadmill. If you get a bit bored or comfortable after a couple of weeks, try some intervals on ONE or two of your days of the week where you walk at your normal pace for 3 mins then walk a bit faster (maybe 4.0-4.5) for a minute and repeat that after a 10 min warmup :) start small and build yourself up.

Woah, you are hitting that exercise hard! How long have you been doing that routine for?


Also, what are ya gonna spend all that monthly savings on huh? ;)


You seem really motivated and like you have set yourself some really healthy, attainable goals -- best of luck!
 
AThis will be the first week and is going great with the workout. I'm saving so I don't spend it on stupid things :) .

Just got back from the gym feel sore but a good sore :):icon_bs:

Going to switch my days off this week to friday and work out tonight. I have plans for tomorrow tonight.

My workout on the treadmill is my only question I start for the first 3 minutes getting to 3.3MPH and then turn on the incline to 1.0 then every 5 mins I bump it up to 5mph for as long as I can do it ( Which is only 15-20 seconds) Then go back to 3.3-3.5 and repeat til towards the end of the work out and been doing 45-50 mins 2.xx miles each time. Just want to make sure thats a good cardio or should I being doing something else.


Also if anyone have any good recipes that goes with chicken breast let me know!

Hey Chazz, everything I've read says that doing intervals like that is one of the most effective ways to encourage fat loss, just make sure that the walking pace is keeping your heart rate up the whole time and you're golden! If you're trying to increase your run time, I really like this (free) program called Couch to 5k which slowly builds up your endurance with walking/running intervals over the course of 9 weeks -- if you have a smartphone there are some great apps for it too that are really helpful! I think it's a fantastic program because it sets times on my intervals which are always just a little bit harder than I think I can do, which always pushes me harder than I would have pushed myself if I had just been running until I felt I couldn't go anymore.


If you're looking for recipes I find a ton of stuff on www.eatbetteramerica.com, they take a lot of comfort food recipes and make them healthier, everything I've tried from there has been soooo good!

AI had my day off from the gym on Saturday and failed to go on sunday so I'm going to kick my butt tonight at the gym plan on doing 70 minutes on treadmill
