Last Time Around

Last night I went to eat at PJ Changs and ate too much food. I ordered a piece of cake called The Great Wall of Chocolate. It's a humongous piece of cake that has 7 layers. :drool5:

I'm still full today. I looked up the calories for that piece of cake and it was over 2000!!! :ack2::ack2: I draw the line here. Since I'm still full today even at 12 noon, I'm not gonna eat anything, I seriously don't NEED anything. Just water (with fibersure) for the rest of the day, and tomorrow I'll start my diet.

I come in at a whopping 304.4 pounds. 26 years old. And I am HURTING. I'm finding that my back, knees and hips are hurting. Cuz I don't move. My body is in some state of atrophy. And even though I'm smiling on the outside, I hate the way I've become on the inside.

I've tried diets. I never completely commit. Lose 20 or 30 lbs, then gain it back. So hopefully this diary will help me lose it for the last time.

Last time guys, last time!!!

BTW, call me Dani.

First day of diet, but I haven't ate anything today so far because I'm having a bad stomach ache. So I'm trying to get over that.

I will exercise later, probably put on some Taebo.

Hey,
Welcome to the forums...
Please eat something to get your body's metabolism started. I think you'll feel better when you do. I'm struggling with that myself, it's counter intuitive to eat to lose weight, but please do!

Hi Dani and welcome :D:party:

Congratulations on making that decision to lose weight!!

I know what you are saying about the atrophy....I would recommend to start exercising as soon as you can. I was having a difficult time walking two weeks ago and so I joined the gym. I am starting by walking, just to get things started, but later on I will try some more intense stuff as needed. I am NO expert at all, but I really think exercise is important.

Also try your best not to see this as just a diet, but as a change in your lifestyle...Sorry to hear that your tummy was hurting today :( Make sure you eat as soon as you are feeling better, as eating is essential to healthy weight loss. The body is a wonderful thing isn't it!!

Again so glad you are here!! I am looking forward to seeing your success! :hurray::hurray::cheers2:

Carrie, PinkClouds... Thanks for stopping by. *lotsa hugs*

I did eat that first day, even though my stomach was hurting. I was feeling nauseated. I feel much better now.

I didn't check in last night cuz I fell asleep before coming in.

My cals yesterday were a little above 1200.

And I exercised for 30 minutes. And it felt GOOD. My body was tingling afterwards, it was a good sensation, like I could feel oxygen moving around or something. My blood flowing.

I woke up this morning and exercised, then ate some protein cereal. Had soup for lunch and some snacks. For dinner I'm getting Subway.

I've been kinda busy, but I will stop by some diaries soon.

PinkClouds - you're so right, I need to think of this as a lifestyle change. Thanks hun.

Breakfast - Protein Cereal with Fat Free Milk (245)
Snack - 100 Calorie Chips (100)
Lunch - Tomato Soup and Crackers (240)
Snack - Banana (90)
Dinner - Subway, Chips, Diet Coke (440)
Snack - More 100 cal Chips - (100) (Yeah, I need to cut down on the chips. lol)

Total: 1215 (calorie) I know I need more calories, but at the moment I don't wanna do anything to aggravate my stomach again.

I had only 2 pints of water, So only about 15 ounces. And my exercise consisted of doing cardio for 19 minutes in the morning. And 19 minutes in the evening.

Okay, so I think I need to say more about myself. So I'll follow the questions in the sticky...

1. How much weight do you want to lose?

I want to be around 140-150. So more than 150 lbs I want to lose.

But I have to say that that's a far goal and I don't even want to think about it at the moment. I just want to think in intervals. I think it would be quite incredible to be less than 270 because the last time I was less than 270 was more than 2 years ago. So that point will be a great accomplishment for me. After 270 then I'll start thinking about further goals.

2. What is the time frame for reaching your target weight?

I don't have a timeframe. If it takes 2 years then so be it. But it needs to happen at some point within the next two years. I'm not gonna rush it. I say at least 8 lbs a month. 2 lbs a week. Etc.

3. How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?

Changing the way I eat. Mostly the quantities of what I eat. It's embarrassing but I admit, I could eat an entire cake by myself within a few days. I love sweets, so that's what I have to watch out for. It won't be in my refrigerator or kitchen or in any room of my house.

4. Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?

Friends and family.

5. How realistic is your goal?

I've been on "diets" before, so I know what works and what doesn't work for me. The point is sticking to it. So my goals are realistic I believe.

6. When will you start?

The other day.

7. What is your current height and weight?

I'm 5'6'' and 304.4

8. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?

Any One-der weight to be honest. I remember being 180 and now I see how much I took that weight for granted. When I become 180 again I'm going to celebrate. Now I've started crying! Ugh.

9. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?

About 35 lbs less than I am now.

10. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?

No, but let me tell you when that wedding or reunion happens in the future I want to be ready for it.

11. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?

Now this is a VERY important question for me, cuz it can and has broken me. As I stated above I have been on diets before and I normally end up gaining the weight back.

For several reasons. 1. Something happens, like a party or I go away to visit family, and I use it as an excuse to go off my diet for a while. And then I never get back on track. 2. I get bored with my exercise routine and I end up stopping. 3. I start losing too much weight and I sabotage myself because I'm afraid of success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's scary to admit.

Hopefully I will see these red herrings when they begin to happen and I'll stop it.

12. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?

I've NEVER learned to control how I eat. My parents, now I'm not blaming them, didn't set many limits on food. And I grew up thinking that it's okay to eat whatever I want. Plus being severly shy as a child. Just kept eating as my security blanket.

13. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?

I really need to just get off my butt and exercise. I need to not eat when I know darn well I'm not hungry. It's as simple as that.

No fast foods. No restaurants. Home cooking, vegetables, fruit, lean meats, water.

14. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?

Yes. Counting calories and exercise. The most I've ever lost at once was 60 lbs. I was a teenager then, but it worked. Unfortunately I gained it back. Then a year ago I lost about 30 lbs. Gained it back.

15. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?

Yes, I have to. Otherwise I will overeat or under eat. I'm gonna try to keep my calories between 1200 and 1900.

16. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?

Yes. We eat a lot of beef and chicken. Vegetables. Etc. I have to say that I eat dinners and stuff pretty well. Normal portions. Etc.

It's dessert that kills me. I will sneak in the kitchen all night long eating cake, pie or cookies.

17. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?

Not restaurants, more like fast food places. Maybe about 4 times a month. Places like Burger King and Carl's Jr.

18. What are your three favorite foods?

Cake, cake, and cake. Seriously.

19. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?

Not eat so much of it. Mostly desserts. Don't eat standing up. I find myself eating in the kitchen. Ridiculous! lol

20. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?

OMG. Is this a trick question? EVERYTHING would be different.

21. Do you eat when you are not hungry?

Yes.

22. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?

Yes.

23. Do you hide your food or eat in secret?

Yes. I don't hide food, but I do eat in secret things that I would be embarrassed to eat.

24. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?

I've been paying attention to what motivates me to eat lately. And I find myself getting up to eat when I think about how fat I am. How crazy is that? Does this site offer a free psychiatrist too?

25. Do you eat as a reward?

Yes.

26. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?

YES. All the time. I'm either in front of a TV or in front of a computer when I eat. Crap.

27. What type of snacks do you eat?

I actually eat anything and everything for a snack. I buy chips, vegetables, fruit, cookies, etc.

28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?

I'm gonna do exercise videos. Until I get tired of it. Then I'll join a gym.

29. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?

I seriously just have to think about the next moment to get myself there. My motivation is looking at how I am now, and how I want some sort of change.

30. Do you have rewards for certain goals?

I haven't thought about it. I'll have to think about it.

Hi Dani :) This forum has helped me tremendously, just cuz its so nice to have people to support ya. I'm with ya tho- two years ago I lost 40lbs, was bout half way to my goal, but hell, I looked hot, quit working out, quit counting cals, blah blah blah... annnnd here I am, almost back to where I started! Sweets are totally my downfall to, and a suggestion you could try- chromium picolinate. It works wonders with me, I'll seriously go three or four days without even realizing that I didn't eat my customary ten lbs. of chocolate  But it really helps with those cravings. Love it.
Anyways, welcome, make the rounds, meet some people- everyone is here for each other- don't be afraid to ask for help!! :)

Hi sweetie, welcome to the forum :).

Keep in mind that you dont have to do the "all or nothing" approach that really hasn't worked so well for you in the past. It seems like you sort of go to extremes. You eat a 3000 calorie meal and then plan to eat nothing the next day. You normally eat upwards of __ calories, yet you start off your "diet" on 1200 calories. Obviously you are at a weight where you've tried to take it off before and it hasn't worked. So I hope you'll keep reflecting on what has sabotaged you in the past and how to change that this time around. We REALLY want you to succeed!

Excellent job on the exercise, I would agree that is key to taking and keeping off weight.

Hi Dani

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your project.

The best advice that I can give is get a pedometer, wear it all day long and try to let it challenge you to do more steps than the day before. A lot of experts agree that we would all benefit from doing 10,000 steps a day.

I now do a lot more than 10,000 steps a day - but I know that I used to do a lot less.

Drink a lot more water. It benefits you in so many ways. It makes you feel fuller, people confuse feelings of thirst for hunger and eat more, it helps your skin - and hopefully your skin will soon be coping with lots of changes.

Eat lots of fresh fruit and veg. I list my food in my diary and you will see that I eat a lot more than you.

Take care
Love

Jess -

I will have to look into the Chromium Picolinate. I honestly have no idea what it is, but I will google it when I can. If it helps to crave an appetite then I'm all for it. Thanks for stopping in. *hugs*

Pink Clouds -

Sucks, huh?

Blancita -

You're right! Everything that I do is either all or nothing, it's a perfectionists trait. Either do it right or don't do it at all. I really need to work on the way my mind thinks. Have a great day. :)

Margaret -

10,000 steps seems like a bunch! lol, but it's VERY intriguing, if it helps me burn extra calories then so be it. I wonder how much they cost. I'll look into it. Thanks for the tip.

I will also be drinking more water and eating more. The only reason why I didn't eat more is because I had that stomach problem.

Thank you for stopping in.

Weighed myself this morning for the Weight Yourself Everyday Club... and I weigh 302.2. Hmm... must be water weight I dropped or something. But I'm happy about it and I'm updating my ticker to say so.

So my mom and I are on this diet thing together. I'm counting my calories AND hers, cuz I know she won't do it. lol. And I even put my dog on a diet. He's about 1 lb more than he needs to weigh. And any extra weight is hard on a dog. Lately I have not been walking him as much as I should cuz I'm extremely lazy. I try to play with him in the house, but it's not enough. So I started taking him on more walks. I don't really count it into my exercise cuz it's not real cardio cuz I'm not out of breathe while walking, just cruisin along. Anyway. No table treats or dog treats for him.

I cleaned out our freezer to get it ready for more healthy food. We found a lot mystery meat, freezer burned and yucky looking. Gross. I can't believe that stuff has been in there that long. lol. And then I went grocery shopping bought vegetables, fruit, meats. I walked right passed the cupcakes. You have no idea how hard this is for me to do. I used to get those 100 calorie cupcakes and eat the entire box in one night. Hey, at least I admit it. I didn't get to 300 lbs by mistake. So I walked passed those demons. lol. I did however pick up some sugar free cookies. Naughty, but I know I won't eat these like I would the cupcakes.

Anyway... My stuff for today...

Breakfast - Protein Cereal with Fat Free Milk and Banana - (335 calories)
Snack - Strawberry Bar - (140 calories)
Lunch - Tomato Soup with Alternative Bagel and Fat Free Cream Cheese - (250 calories)
Snack - Sugar Free Jumbo Cookie (110 calories)
Dinner - Roast with Collard Greens, Carrots and Cornbread made with Splenda (570 calories)
Snack - Mini Delights and an orange (162 calories)

Total Calories: 1567 Calories

Exercise: 30 Minutes Cardio

Water: 1 Pint (I really need to work on this, I always forget I need to be drinking it! The nights not over, so I'll try to drink more right now)

Pedometers are not expensive. I paid about £14 for mine. They are well worth the money in my opinion.

At your weight - which is just about where I started (in fact I was probably chubbier than you because I am only 5ft3 tall) - walking the dog is excellent exercise whether you get tired or not. The fact that you are not out of breath while walking means that you can walk for longer and go further. I promise you that it will help you lose weight. Cruising along is fine - it is so much better than not doing it. The more time that you spend walking the dog - the slimmer you will get. He will enjoy it too.

Walking is central to my weight loss project - together with very healthy eating - and I am more than happy with the amount of weight that I have lost in 14 months.

Drinking water is well worth working at. It is not easy. The water calculation that I follow is drinking 1oz (29.5735ml) of water for every 2lbs of your weight. It certainly takes a bit of doing and most people struggle at first. In all honesty - I would just have this knowledge at the back of your mind as you try and drink more and more. I am just telling you this so you see how much more you should be drinking and why I and others keep mentioning a need to drink more water to you.

Take care

Omegas totally right- drink water! Use crystal lite if ya hafta, just get it in. I actually have always loved water, so it wasn't a problem for me to drink more, but some people have the opposite reaction to extra water.

Yay for the "water" weight :) !! I'm with you, I don't care if its water weight, lol. I take the smaller number no matter what

hay dani i thought i would visit your diary to help cheer you on!

Any exercise is exercise even if you arnt out of breath you are doing your body alot of good from just walking! i know what you mean about the mystery meat i cleaned out my freezer the other day and as i live with my nan she put loads of meat in there and now we couldnt even work out what it was Lol!

well done on resisting the demons i did the same thing today and it is very difficult what helped me is i had a few jaffa cakes and a packet of chrisp to munch on if i felt hungry so i didnt even fancy any of the naughty things

well done on the exercise! try to up your water intake as when you exercise you lose alot of water what i do is have 500ml of water with my breakfast another with my lunch, another to drink while iam working and another when i get home and then ive got my 2ltrs covered for the day!

Margaret,

I'm definitely gonna buy one. I talked it over with my mom too and she's gonna get one. We're in this together. I'll have to research what kind to get.

Also... That's a lot of water, wow! I'll definitely start drinking more too. I gotta keep a bottle of water filled and with me at all times.

Thank you for your support

Jess

Haha. It must've been water weight or something. I'm doing the Weigh Yourself Everyday Club and I'm still at 302.2 for about 3 days now. I find it weird, but whatever. At least I dropped some. :)

Kotki

Thanks for coming by and your for support. *hugs* :) I love the butterfly and flowers in your signature!! I see that you're a new member here as well, I'll have to check out your journal.

So today someone told me that I'm a drag. This was before I explained how I'm counting calories and exercising and helping my mom do the same thing. It kind of nullified me for a moment there. She's a friend. She said it sort of playfully, but why not "Hey, wow, congratulations" Or something. Why is trying to be healthier a drag? Why does it have to be this way? Ah, whatever. I just have to vent my stuff here and keep going and going...

Stuff for today...

Breakfast - Fiber Cereal and Skim Milk (405 calories)
Snack - Propell Water, Sun Chips, Banana (215 calories)
Lunch - Turkey Sandwich, Banana, Propell Water(350 calories)
Snack - Mini Delights, Cookie (200 calories)
Dinner - Chicken Parmesan (370 calories)
Snack - Pineapple and Trail Mix (210 calories)

Total: 1750 calories

Water: 1 pint! Does Propell Water count? I dunno. I don't MIND drinking water, I love drinking water is just that when I get busy doing something I forget to drink it, next thing I know it's the end of the day and I realize I haven't drank much.

Exercise: 22 minutes cardio (k, I couldn't do much today, I got so tired so I went for as long as I could.)

Didn't record my calories yesterday - My cals were probably around 1700. And I exercised for 30 mins yesterday.

For the water - I am in England so we buy liquids in litres over here. Every so often I do the calculation to see how much I should be having approximately. Then I have to convert it to litres.

The calculation currently comes out at somewhere between 2 litres and 2.5 litres for me (it goes down - kind of like a reward - when you lose a chunk of weight). I therefore make sure that I have 2.5 litres of water a day. I do it by having 3 half litre bottles and 1 1-litre bottle which I fill up with water every night and put in the fridge. I know the next day when I have had all my bottles of water I have had enough. I just force myself to keep drinking water until I am through my allocation. When I go out I take a bottle of water in my bag and keep on drinking it.

You can turn drinking water into a good habit - once you get into the swing of doing it you will almost do it automatically and your body will benefit.

If you exercise very regularly - that will turn into a good habit too. Things will stop feeling such a drag - and you will be able to enjoy the great things like seeing new smaller numbers on the scales and be able to wear smaller clothes. It really is amazing to see and feel yourself shrinking out of clothes that used to fit or even be too tight. We all enjoy all the compliments that noticeable weight loss brings too.

Take care
Love
Margaret
