Thank you & god bless

Hi there,

Well first off, congratulations are in order for losing those first 100 pounds!! :D

Perhaps you could increase your cardio, but I'd really recommend that you start including weight training to your regimen. Muscles are little calorie burning machines: the more you build them up, the more calories you burn when you are at rest. Plus, if you build musle in your legs, you can push harder when you do cardio! At first you may not lose weight, but you might lose a few inches here and there, and then weight loss will follow. And as a side note, by building muscle I don't necesarily mean bulking up, but making them stronger and your body leaner.

Then, as for eating, have you started trying to substitute things in your diet? Like switch to lighter mayo, lighter dairy, snacking on veggies, etc? What about eating whole grain or trying leaner cuts of meat? I find that those small changes go a long way in helping your body get the nutrients it needs so you don't overindulge on the not-so-good stuff.

The last thing you want to do is starve yourself. You will have less energy and be more sedentary, and your body will go into starvation mode, making it retain fat instead of burning it!

So there it is, some of the tried, tested and true tips I can give you from what I have learned from my own experience in battling the bulge.

Good luck!!

Oh dear...this really isn't a good idea. You are putting yourself into a situation where you can come back after the fast worse than you are. You don't need to do a fast..just tweek what you are doing a little and keep at it. Water fasts are bad, especially as long as you are planning on it.

I'd like to echo what Sapientia said about weight training.

Also, you might want start counting calories to see how many you are actually consuming, and figure out how many you need to be eating to maintain.

Definitely don't go on a water fast. I mean that can't sound like a good idea to you, can it? All those juicy cheeseburgers you'll be missing out on? (Sorry, I think I'm craving a cheeseburger right now)

Food is not the enemy. It keeps you alive! A water fast will just leave you wanting to get a cheeseburger and fries and a milkshake and... you get the point ;)

I fast on occasion for one week at a time. It jump-starts my weight loss if it stalls. After the first two days I no longer feel hungry. Your body will burn the glucose stores within 24 to 48 hours and will then move to ketosis where it consumes your own tissue for fuel.

This is a completely natural process and so long as you are not considerably underweight should pose no health risk to you - your body is designed to store fuel when times are good and burn that fuel when times are not so good.

Some people believe that the body consumes non essential and damaged tissue first. It makes absolute sense that your body would burn fat and damaged tissues rather than muscle. If it burned muscle first you would be weak and unable to go forage for food in an efficient way.

I had a pilonidal cyst for 2 years which caused me very bad pain and came and went several times. The first time I fasted I noticed it reduced in size significantly. The second time I fasted it went away completely. As this had been bothering me consistently for so long and I had been advised I needed surgery I was very surprised when it went away.

Fasting is a bad idea.

It may cause some weight loss, but the cost of that weightloss is very steep, your bodys starvation response will kick in, it will drastically lower your metabolism so that you naturally spend less calories during the day.

This means when you come back from your fast you'll start gaining that weight back, even if you're eating the same as what you did prior to the fast, and you'll continue to gain weight until your bodies metabolism has returned to normal.

If you're not counting calories right now then you should do. Find out your maintenance calorie amount by googling for a calorie calculator, put in your stats and find your daily target. Aim to eat that for about a week or so, this will get your metabolism back on track and get it expecting a decent amount of food, you might put on some weight during this time. But then you can gently decrease from that daily limit in a controlled way and get back to losing each week.

Like many puzzles in life, you need to go backwards before you can go forwards which is what makes it so hard.

Thank you guys so much for the advice.im in the process of buying a weight bench and hope that can shed the remaining weight off for good.however i did water fasted for 2 days and managed to lose 4 pounds and i finally got to see the scale go below the 210 mark.it was really tempting to continue the fast after weeks of not being able get pass the 210 but i decided it was just not worth for me.
