Hello I am very new to this and I am in desperate need of help.

I am 28 years old and I weight 424lbs.

For once in my life I would like to be healthy.. this is embarassing but I want to try to finally lose this weight..

My wedding is in August and I think this will help keep me motivated.. I would like to lose 70-100 lbs by the wedding and then continue to lose...

Can someone please help get me started?

Hi and welcome to the forum. Start by reading the stickies around the forum. Look under the Nutrition and Tools and Calculator forums. You'll find a lot of information about how to lose weight in a healthy way. How tall are you? You should be able to lose a good amount of weight before your wedding. There are a lot of guys your size here that have been losing weight.
Good luck, Lynn

Hey I am 6ft 2.

Chris, I started a year ago at 403 and have dropped 50 pounds. Now, I know you want it faster and I am doing it slower than it has to be, but it isn't hard. For you to be where you are, you are eating way too many calories. For one week, write down EVERYTHING you are eating. After a week, look back and you should see where you can make changes.

Welcome, you are in the right place.
There's a lot of folks here who can help you.
I'd recommend looking at the "club challenges" section, and just jump right in!
Start exercising too! walk or use a bike machine, since running and high impact exercises, like stair machines can be very bad for big guys like us.

Hi Big Chris, my dh is a big man and his weight used to be in the high 300 and he is 6ft-2. Dh had to lose weight due to health problems, so he started by just cutting back on portion sizes. Bad as he hated to, he changed his Pepsi to diet Pepsi. He dropped big time by doing just that. He now weighs 250 lbs. He would walk about 1-2 miles a day and he went to the gym about 3 times a week. I would suggest eating healthy at least 3 meals a day, with healthy snack in between. Big guys need lots of good healthy food to keep their energy level up. If you drink a lot of caffeine pop, don't quit it all at once. You could get bad headaches (big time)! You could start out by drinking diet pop then change to caffeine free alittle at a time.

Good Luck!!

I was surfing through the internet and found that by fasting every alternate day results in fast weight loss. On other days you need to keep the normal diet.I hope this will help you. Thanks

Hi, you are joking right?
We try and encourage weight loss methods that work, and are healthy. no gimmicks or silly crap.

As for a reply to the original poster, see what Jericho said and read all the sticky threads at the top of the Newcomer forum should help. We have had more than a few very big men and woman (including myself!) loosing larger amounts of weight.

Large amount of weight

I also have so much weight to lose. I have lost and regained many times and now are bigger than ever but still have a hard time trying again. I want to be healthy, but am here because I need motivation.
