kinda silly question

Hello ,I am 16 years old and I am new here ,I recently started doing cardio exercises and i also read most of the other pages. So considering that i have some belly fat ,i am 170 cm tall and 65 kg i am wondering if making abs exercise will burn my belly fat or just make it bigger due the muscle developement.ty

You can't target fat loss, and building your abdominal muscle wall will not make your stomach stick out further. If you want to lose the spare tyre you need to eat better and get some cardio in.

You sound quite skinny already though so have you thought about eating more and lifting to try and build a bit more of a physique?

My hands and legs are fine ,you can even call them skinny but my belly got very huge in the last year and i dont know why .. i mean i didnt exercise but why only the belly

Some people store fat in certain areas more than others. A lot of women find they mainly put fat on around the hips and arse and a lot of men on the belly.

I went out with a girl once who stored fat mainly on her tits; I was always offering to cook for her!

EDIT: Is this site not edited anymore? I expected tits to get starred out. What about ****y? Lets see if that works

EDIT: EDIT: Ah OK, there are still boundaries - tits yes, ****y no. Sounds like advice for a second date!

Typhon is right, you cannot target fat loss on a specific part of your body.

If you want to lose belly fat, you need to focus on overall fitness and weight loss.

I'm no weight loss expert, but I heard somewhere that if you focus on strengthening your large muscle groups like your legs and buttocks with weight training exercises, you can increase your metabolism and burn fat faster.

Maybe someone smarter than me can chime in and confirm/disprove that.

I'd say no, abs will not reduce your belly size, and infact they can add bulk to your stomach if you are building up muscles. It won't be a huge amount as no one gets abs that stick out 10 inches! But having said that, it can be very easy to do abs (sit ups etc) badly and push out your belly when you rise for example. This then creates a 'domed' effect which yes, will add inches after a while.

Best thing ab wise if you want to build muscle are transverse abs like the car pose, downward dog pose, plank and side planks and balancing exercises (standing on one food, close your eyes, then try that on the Bosu ball). The idea is that when you do these exercises you pull in but without sucking in your breath to do so. This trains your transverse abs and also helps your core.

For weight loss, its gotta be all over I'm afriad. If its any consolation I have always had a huge belly. I used to be properly anorexic (BMI 15) and STILL people would ask me if I was expecting as I just had such a pouted stomach. Its more then just fat, I think its a structural issue.

Cardio can help but most of all what you eat matters in regards to your weight.
