I own 3 kettlebells. One is a traditional 1 pood kb, and the other two are conventionally weighted at 45 lbs each. I love using my kb's and I feel that anyone can benefit from using them, not just contact sport athletes.
Yes, some of the exercises take practice to learn such as the clean, and the snatch. But as mentioned, the swing is the easiest to learn for most people.
Here's a routine I like to do with my kb's:
1. Renegade pushups/rows with two 45 lbs kb's
2. Front squats (two 45 lbs kb's held in the clean position)
3. KB Clean & Press (1 pood)
4. KB snatch (1 pood)
Sometimes, if I'm short of time I'll do just the clean and press. 3 sets of 10 and I'm beat.
Something else I like about my kb's is how portable they are. Occasionally, when I go on road trips I will take my 1 pood kb along. It easily fits in my car, and I can do a workout in any hotel room because I know I won't need much space.
