Kettle-bell Training

I used to train with the kettle-bell a few years ago but then my hypothyroidism got out of control and no matter what I did the weight just piled on. However, it's back under control and the weight is slowly starting to come off, so I was just wondering what exercises you would all recommend I do, in order for me to lose weight and tone up. I know it's all to do with a good clean diet and that is what I'm working on too :)

Thanks

If you had success with the kettlebell training in the past, why not try that again?

For some simple exercises (not kettlebell) that require little or not equipment, try looking at the fitness.com main page:

I forgot I posted this. I have been doing the kettle bell but i'm scared that I'll bulk up instead of lean down, especially since my diet isn't up to scratch and i'm unsure whether i'm consuming too many carbs and calories. I guess I'll have to get a good exercise workout which incorporates both the kettle bell, dumbells and some cardio. Hopefully someone on here can help me with this :)

You won't bulk up. You may become more toned, but unless you have a lot of testosterone in your body, you won't build bulk.

If you need advice on your workouts, I would suggest posting what you come up with, then get advice from there. It's hard to just give someone a cookie-cutter routine, plus I don't agree with the cookie-cutter approach.

You don't need a 'perfect' routine, you just need to be consistent with what you choose to do :)

Basically, its as follows :)

Warm up -40 mins
Squats - 3 sets of 20
Crunches - 3/20
Lunges - 3/20
Push-ups - 3/10
Standing Calf Raises - 3/30
Shadow boxing with Dumb-bells - 1.1kg 4/30

Five minute rest

Kettle bell 30 mins - 8kg

Abs
Halo - 3/10
Around the World -3/10

Arms
Bicep Curls - 3/10

Lower Body
Kettle bell Swing - 3/10
Squats - 3/10

It looks like you've got a great start there... how many days per week do you do this?

I would suggest breaking it up into 2 routines and doing the first set of exercises (40 mins) on one day, then do the kettlebell exercises the next day. Then each day add 20 - 30 mins of cardio after your workout.

That sounds good :) I try to fit it into my day as much as I can, usually its about 2-3 times a week
