Kelly's Bringing It!!

Hey good to see you up and running again Kelly...

That is an excellent choice of jobs... but it sounds like a tough workout every day!

That is interesting about weighing more but looking thinner.. you're just gonna develop into solid muscle haha thats gREAT!

I was really surprised with the measurements. There's a chik fil a right across from where I work and when I first started this job I had a very intimate relationship with it there for a while lol.

My order shipped! yay, should be here in a few days I hope I hope!
4.5 massages today, thats what...1737 calories? I have a hard time believing I burn that much just at work.

Food today was alright, considering I haven't been to the grocery store in like 2 weeks.
Breakfast- Kashi heart to heart blueberry crunch cereal and almond milk
Lunch- small salad, a few bites of some kind of cold "california chicken" salad ( I think it was chicken, cabbage, celery, onions, and raisins), a small garlic bread stick and a few bites of mac and cheese.
Dinner- peanut butter/jelly sammich on wheat bread, single bag of sun chips.

yay my order is here!
boo, I don't have my blender anymore!
Gonna make the bf pick up one for me while i'm at work today.
Speaking of work, i'm freaking exhausted. This past week was my first week back after being sick, and also happened to be the busiest week I've had since I started at this place. I did almost 30 massages last week. Thats a lot when I was still trying to get my energy back from having the flu. I can do up to 6 a day, but doing 6 a day several days in a row is incredibly brutal. Yesterday I did 5 and thats only because I had them block off my last hour so I wouldn't get 6, there was no way i'd be able to do it. I know I had 3 booked today when I checked yesterday, i'm praying it won't fill up. Its my friday today, and i'm dying for a respite from work. At least my paycheck will be happy. My muscles aren't.

TIP YOUR THERAPISTS! lol. Our job is freaking hard, and we still have to be able to smile and do just as good a job on our 6th massage of the day as the 1st of the day. We have 1 client who comes in all the time for a -2 hour- massage. She talks the whole time about how much money she has, and NEVER tips. After someone spends that much time fixing your owwies, thats just rude.

anyway, I've got my diet stuff all set up in the pantry. wee!

mmmmmmmmmmnom nom nom nom

First day of being back on my diet. I can't get over how easy this program is. I'm a sucker for simplicity, apparently.
Breakfast- coffee, chocolate/berries cereal with almond milk
Snack- strawberry creme shake
Lunch- spicy pasta (my favorite meal that they make. I'd eat it even if i wasn't dieting) and a chocolate/mint protein bar.
My next snack and dinner will probably just be shakes.

For anyone reading this stuff who's curious, I'm doing a program called Wonderslim. If you go read the beginning of this thread there's more about it, because I did it last summer. I lost 30lbs in a little over 3 months. Its super easy (shakes, microwave meals, protein bars, and 1 meal of protein and veggies a day). I really have no cons to say about it at all. I wasn't expecting a lot when I ordered it the first time, but the shakes actually taste good (not like licking a pharmacy floor, which was what I was expecting), I stay full all day, my blood sugar is steady, and its just... easy. And because it doesn't taste like crap, I don't feel deprived. There's a good variety of savory/sweet options that keeps your sweet tooth in check. In my pantry right now i've got 2 kinds of cereal, apple/cinnamon oatmeal, chicken/veggie soup, sloppy joe mix, spicy cheese pasta, cheese steak pasta, chili mix, chocolate cake mix, cheesecake mix, dark chocolate and caramel puddings, shakes(that can also be made into puddings) in vanilla, strawberry creme, chocolate and mocha, and about 5 different kinds of protein bars like chocolate mint, chocolate peanut butter crunch, lemon crunch, caramel nut brownie... and thats not even 1/4th of the stuff that actually came. thats just what will fit in the pantry.

One thing I will say that I don't like is their drink mixes. I have a cran-grape protein drink mix, and it just tastes.... gross. It has a very weird aftertaste that none of their other food has. It makes me wonder, because the shakes are so good, why their regular drink mix is so bad lol

Its always a good morning when you lose weight.
especially when you first start and all that water weight goes WOOSH.
-2.7lbs this morning :)

Workout:
just the P90X stretch video. After the huge work load last week, I don't think my muscles can handle a workout just yet, and my shoulder is still bothering me. I have an old shoulder injury that I thought was under control, but doing about 33 massages last week really woke it back up. The stretches felt great, but i'm still hurting.

Breakfast- coffee, apple cinnamon oatmeal, a sliced banana.
Snack- handful of goldfish crackers
Lunch- Mocha shake
Snack- protein bar
Dinner- Chicken, chopped broccoli
Snack- one of my diet snacks, iono which yet.

-3.4 today.
Breakfast- my nommy diet chocolate/berry cereal, dry (ran outta almond milk, darnit), and a strawberry shake (200 cals)
Snack- strawberry shake (100 cals)
Lunch- buffalo chicken strips with ranch (200 cals)

I dunno what i'll do for snacks at work today. Maybe bring a protein bar, or make some broccoli real quick before I leave.

Man its disgusting outside today. I hopw the bf makes it home from work before its time for me to go, so he can drive me. Oh, I don't remember if I talked about this, yeah my car died. Like died for good :( Poor thing was like 16 years old. I bought my cousins old car to replace it, but its about 4.5 hours away. my dad is going to bring it to me once he gets the oil changed and gets it checked out for me, weeee. But till then, either the bf or his grandparents have been having to bring me to work. I like his grandparents but having a 70 year old drive me to work on the freeway in the rain isn't fun at all lol

work is sooooo busyyyyyy
So I effed up my shoulder yesterday. Long story short, I have down at work that I can do 6 massages a day. Thats just an extra opening on the off chance that I get 6, but for some reason the last 2 weeks or so i've been booked solid nearly every day. My paycheck will be happy about it, but i'm not! i'm gonna bump my hours back down to 5 a day for a while, I can't afford an injury.
I have an old shoulder injury. between a couple times i've injured it doing stupid stuff, bad genetics, and my physically demanding job, its been irritated again. (forgive any weird therapist speak, I don't know how else to describe it) Yesterday I was holding pressure on a knot i've got under my clavicle, like i've done 100 times. But when I released, my entire ulnar side was numb (aka my last 2 fingers all the way up the lateral side to my elbow). It sort of freaked me out, mostly because I had a 2 hour massage to start in 10 minutes!
Basically, I have something called thoracic outlet syndrome, where the arteries and nerves between my clavicle and my 1st rib are compressed, causing pain (Very severe in the past, thank god its not that bad again), numbness, and muscle weakness. Bad cases have to be operated on. I've dealt with mine on and off for 5 years, the worst of it was about 2 years ago, when I went to ever doctor I could find because the pain was so unbelievably bad. I didn't sleep for like 3 months, and couldn't work for 8. A chiropractor finally fixed it (after going twice a week for 2 months), but the heavy work load lately I think has irritated it again. I'm going to get an appointment with a local chiro next week, but until my next day off I just have to suffer through it, which is hard to do when you massage for a living. Its not horrific yet, but I can tell its aggravated again and not a lot works on it long term. I've been icing it, stretching and trying watch my body mechanics and pressure but i'm worried about it. This is my job, if I can't use my arm, i'm effed. I got another therapist to work it out a little with some stretches, but the feeling in my fingers didn't come back for about 90 minutes, and its never been that bad that quick before.

*sigh* I can't catch a friggin break man!

Well its officially pms week. bleh.
I've gained about a pound of pms water weight from my initial weight loss of 3.4, so now i'm sitting around -2.5. Thats still -2.5 my first week, so can't complain.

I've bumped my hours at work down from 6 a day to 5 a day, and I'm heading to the chiro tomorrow or the next day to get my shoulder checked out and get adjusted so hopefully it won't get any worse.

so onto -good- news, since i've been all pmssy and grouchy the last couple days. I discovered today i can do 50 jumping jacks without even getting winded. Thats -huge- for me. I was a smoker for about 7 years, and back over the summer when i did P90X i was always winded and sweating within 5 minutes of working out. (granted that was also in a super hot garage during the tx summer), but since i've been using my e-cigarette i have so much more stamina at work, and just doing every day stuff. my bf, who weighs probably 30lbs less than i do, is always kind of out of breath just coming up the stairs to our apartment, and can carry like 8 grocery bags and a case of drinks up them and not even breath hard. i always got frustrated that when i worked out i got winded quickly, even though my strength is pretty decent, i never thought that my smoking was 'that big a deal'. well, apparently it was!

so for anyone who's a smoker who can't seem to quit, i highly recommend an e-cigarette. i got mine from vapor4life.com at the beginning of january, and i -love- it. i'm down to less than half the nicotine of a normal cigarette and i feel much better, my circulation is better and i haven't had that annoying 'smokers cough' in over a month. wee!

today i had strawberry shortcake flavored coffee (yum!), and a mocha flavored shake for breakfast.
snack- i'll have another shake
lunch- whole wheat tortilla, maybe 2oz of chicken, steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots)
snack- protein bar
dinner- probably leftover veggies, and one of my diet meals.

for a workout today, i'm kind of torn. i'm just worried that a 'real' workout will tear up my injured shoulder more, so i did some yoga for pain relief and a little cardio with just jumping jacks and some floor bicycles and lunges. it feels alright so far, but i think i'll be avoiding weights on that arm for a while just in case.

Today, we're going to talk about loose skin. yaaaaay!

it sucks. I have it. a lot of you have it. Its a menace.
Losing weight didn't give me loose skin. Gaining a lot over a short amount of time really did it. For those who don't know my sob story, I went from a relatively healthy 180 to 250 in about a year. Now, i'm almost 5'11" topped off with an hourglass figure, I can get away with some "extra", but when you wake up one morning and there are bright red streaks across your stomach because you've fattened up so fast your skin CANT KEEP UP, somethin's gotta change!

I lost most of that relatively slowly, but as I lost, I just looked... deflated. I'm 25 years old with hips and boobs that were Ds before I ever GAINED weight, so now that they're Ds again, they point straaaaight down. my lower stomach where i used to have a big fat pooch, now always looks to me like i'm smuggling something soft and squishy in my pants. the skin is so stretched out it literally just falls flat and sits against the top of my legs. and of course, the most annoying one... i have that goddamn belly button flap. yknow what i'm talking about, at one point my upper stomach stuck out a bit further than my lower stomach below my belly button. now, it kind of just sags over the top of it.
so at 25, when most people my age are running around wondering what cute skimpy clothes they're going to wear for spring break, i'm only -just- getting over my habit of just wearing big t shirts that hide all of those things.

it really feels like a mismatched puzzle sometimes. my arms are toned, my legs are strong, my back is strong, my collar bones are aren't hidden anymore, but then thats all mixed with floppy, uneven, wrinkly loose skin. and when i lose this next 40lbs i'm trying to lose, it'll be even worse.

not everyone can afford surgery to fix that either.

has anyone ever had weird complications from steroids?
I got put on dexamethasone for a nerve injury (that shoulder i'm always whining about) and all I can say is i'm SO glad i'm off it now. I've felt like a walking zombie for the last 2 weeks. I haven't weighed since I got on the steroids cause I was scared of it, and i'm not terribly interested in looking now. I think i'll check it again next time I feel like there's been an actual change. My work pants are falling off my butt, but they're yoga pants, so how reliable is that, really.
So i've cut back on working, although my hours are going back up next week, but i'll be taking it easy as to not jack up my shoulder ever again. i'm sick of dealing with it.
I'm also hooping! go to youtube and search "hoop dancing" and you'll see what I mean. Its so much fun, its low impact, and it won't piss off my joints, and its high cardio awesomeness. I like it except for the bruises its causing lol. So far I just have a couple on my stomach, because adult sized hoops are heavy and I do it for 1-2 hours, but when I start trying to do crazy tricks i'll probably end up with them on my arms and neck and hands. then i'll probably end up with clients asking me if everythings ok at home hahaha!

Admittedly i've been pretty horrible at sticking to my shakes, especially when I was on steroids. The week and a half I was on them I wasn't allowed to work and I literally didn't leave the house, and literally had chicken wings delivered to the house every single day because I had no energy to do anything but lay on the couch and whine about how much pain I was in.

SO yah, the last week or so i've felt MUCH better, my head isn't foggy anymore, I feel much more myself and my arm is slowly doing better. I'm back on my shakes and protein and veggies for dinner usually. I'm back at work with a limit of 4 a day, though usually i'm getting 2-3 its been really slow. I miss being busy, and its basically cut my paycheck in half.

*sigh*
part of what has had me down, and eating crap (which btw, isn't something I usually do when i'm down. I hope its not a new bad habit) is work. I love what I do. I love my clients. I love working hard and helping people. I'm very lucky to say that my work life and home life are drama free 99% of the time.
Unfortunately, some drama has gone on recently at work, and it although I really have no reason to worry, it just makes me cringe every time I walk in now, and I feel like a safe haven has been taken away from me.

raging sinus headache today. AWESOME.
Got up, took a bath with eucalyptus epsom salt, popped some excedrin, and hooped for over an hour. My legs and hips are really feelin it today!

Trying to get back to keeping track of what I eat, so i'll stop eating garbage. I've been bad at work with this whole easter candy thing, everyone keeps buying huge bags of it and putting them in the break room for everyone, and when you just got out of doing 3 massages in a row, a burst of sugary energy sounds like a good idea. Ugh. No more candy whatsoever! NO MOARZ!

Breakfast- sugar free oatmeal, coffee w/ splenda and a bottle of water
Lunch- a strawberry protein shake and a small grilled chicken sandwich (small chicken breast, lettuce, wheat bread and low fat ranch)
Snack- I have some carrots and hummus at work i'll probably munch on, if not a protein bar.
Dinner- iono, maybe just another shake, depending how I feel.
