I've been dieting for a little while now but I'm affraid that I've lost the weight too quickly and I am affraid the the weight will just come back. Is there anything I can do to keep the weight off. I've been doing a "vegan" diet type thing and i'm affraid that once I adjust my diet to include meats and other things that the weight will come back. after I'm done and I stick to a 2000 calorie diet will that be enough to keep the weight loss??

Everybody's maintaining levels are different, you'll probably have to change it up a little to see what works for you.

That's one of my biggest questions, how to keep the weight off?

What makes sense to me is that weight is a symptom or byproduct of a certain lifestyle. If you radically change your eating habits to lose weight, then when you return to your old habits you will regain that weight.

That's why diets don't work, because people view them as temporary, to make lifelong changes to your weight you need to make lifelong changes to your diet or your level of physical activity or both.

So my focus now is not on what's the best way to lose weight, rather how can I change my lifestyle so that the result is an appropriate weight and continue to live that way as long as I'm alive.

It's a journey!

There's a good thread here somewhere regarding maintenance... I'll see if I can find it for you.

Here it is, by Cym.

I have been in maintenance mode for about 7 weeks now, going over a little because I started cycling. I actually lost three pounds doing maintenance, but I think it's because of the cycling and running and weight lifting... so you have to kind of play with it.

Food is fuel. So if you use it to fuel your activities, then you become much better at maintenance.

1. Eat healthy and don't exaggerate the amounts. Find your maintenance level, you can do calculations on the internet. Google.

2. Keep exercising. Don't kill yourself, but do some. Twice or three times a week, perhaps?

Just as David said, a healthy lifestyle would be ideal. :)

I have to agree, there is no diet that can keep weight off year round. Inless you diet every day of your life and then it would not be a diet. It's a life still change and after a few month's you dont miss junk food at all. Infact you get to the point that alot of junk food makes you kind of sick fealing.

Building muscle is a great way to boost your metabolism so you can eat more without gaining, also if you break your meals into 6 meals every 3 hours your metabolism will stay burning hot. I've heard it described like a fire, the more wood the put on it the more often, the hotter it burns.

Also I forgot to add this but you might check out physiquetransformation.com. There is a lot of revolutionary info about boosting your metabolism and how to get lean and stay lean. There's a free e-book you can download with a lot of insightful information.
