I am not usually into diarys and whatnot, but I think having to update this thread frequently will help me stay on track! Also, I like to complain a lot; it keeps me from eating boxes of chocolates, cake, and anything else that is delicious but terrible for me.
Well, according to the diary-starting sticky thread, I need to answer some questions:
Highest weight: 260
Starting weight: 230
Goal weight: 130, but mostly just anything within a healthy BMI.
-- How much weight do you want to lose?
Approximately 100 pounds. I'll take anything I can get, though.
-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
I've given myself two years. I would really like to lose all of my excess weight upon completing my undergraduate education because though I am very busy now with school (double-major and a minor, ugh!), I know when, or if, I go to law school, I will be ever busier then, and it's a lot easier to maintain weight and fitness than it is get there again!
-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
I will see what works for me best. It's much easier for me to diet than it is to exercise, seeing as dieting is much less time-consuming, so that is what I am starting with. Exercise is my weakness! Not only do I not have a lot of time during the day, but I have a lot of trouble motivating myself. I promised myself I would, at least, go walking for an hour each day starting at the beginning of my summer semester. It shouldn't be too hard because my university's campus is really pretty, the weather will be nice, and I can listen to my music to keep me entertained.
-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
I don't actually have a lot of people-support. When I was 14, my grandfather told me, "lose weight or no boys will ever like you." My parents were generally unsupportive; I had to choose from what was offered, which was usually pizza, canned soup, or sandwiches with processed deli meat. Even after I was able to buy my own food, my parents would taunt my lack of commitment, "why not eat this or that, it won't hurt, we know that this dieting-thing is just a phase." My siblings are the WORST. Both of them used to be very heavy, and then lost tons of weight! Now, they're complete jerks! Instead of giving me advice or supporting me, they just make fun of me. My boyfriend also said he didn't want me to lose weight because then I'd "have options"; I guess being with a fat girl makes him think he has relationship security, which I am very bitter about but can forgive. My friends are really great, though. They're typically always dieting, even though they're average-sized, and I support them, so they are returning the favour. I can make up for what I lack in support with determination and motivation, though! When I commit to something, I always follow through.
-- How realistic is your goal?
I think it is pretty realistic. I mean, some people lose the same amount of weight in a year, and I have about a 2-3 year timespan.
-- When will you start?
Already started! I started changing my eating habits when I thought I had Diabetes. I didn't really have Diabetes or even early on-set, I just thought I did because I had to pee all of the time, turns out it was from all of the espresso I was drinking at the time, oops! Recently, though, in the past 3 days, I've stepped up my game!
I'm starting very low-intensity exercise regimen at the beginning of my summer semester (starting mid-May), and then I will be able to work my way up so I can get the beginning, the hardest part, done while I have relatively fewer classes, nice weather, and a mostly abandoned campus! I would be exercising already, but I like to tackle one thing at a time.
Sorry for such a long post! That's all for now, I will try to update soon.
