Just starting

Hi Im new here. Im 20 years old. 5'2 and weigh about 96 lbs. Im going to be starting to go to the gym. I want to weight train.... working out is the only way I hve ever been able to gain weight and I want to gain a few pounds and gain more muscle mass. I was just wondering if any of you can help me come up with a workout that I can stick to, to get some muscles lol. Thanks for your help :)

I've been weight training for about a year. First pick some exercises to target the areas where you want to see the most muscle growth. I do the Bench Press, Bicep Curls, Tricep Press, Shoulder Press, Lat Pull Downs and Seated Cable rows for upper body, and Squats, Leg curls and Leg extensions. You'll want to test your maximum weight (that means the most weight you can handle for one rep) and do anywhere from 70 to 80 percent of that for your workout. For muscle gain, you want to do low reps with high weight. Most importantly, experiment around and see what you feel most comfortable with and what your body responds to best.

first, welcome to the forum! I used to play on a soccer team called Nemisis hehe..

anyway. spicy nailed it. what works for one doesn't work for everyone, so you'll need to experiment a little.

Also, not sure how you feel about calorie counting but it can def help with any goal. make sure you eat in a surplus.

Thank you both for your replies :) Yea, Im going to experiment with a few things for a while and see what I like. I did take weight training in highschool. it was only for a semester but i gained a few pounds. I was so happy because I actually reached 100lbs... lol I should have kept with it but was too much into other things like soccer and making sure I kept good grades. I already eat decent, but I know I have to cut back on the sweets. My bf works out all the time, he's training for MMA. Its just that I dont think he wants me to always go to the gym with him and get in his way so Im just going to be going with a friend most of the time probably. But with his diet, I eat the same things so lots of protein.... plus some yummy muscle milk.... mmmm I love that stuff lol.

Welcome to the forum! I wish you the best of luck.

You may want to consider starting a personal journal in the correct portion of the womens section: you can impart your feelings, your training, and your diet. You could ask questions. Alot of persons view these journals. I will be one of your biggest supporters.......I promise!...........>:)

ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

Best wishes,

Chillen
