Just saying hello!

Hi all just joined to look for some insparation/guidance and people to moan too when my muscles start to ache lol

Im 23 years young and working away in Aberdeen in bonny Scotland.

I used to visit the gym quite often, 3-4 times a week as well as playing 5-a-side football/soccer or badminton 2 times a week.

But all that came to a rather abrupt halt when I tore the ligaments in my left ankle playing footbal, allot of pain and swearing later my ankle was back on form and I was playing football again with the use of an ankle brace. Then I decided to tear the ligaments in my right ankle and about a year on now its still giving me bother.

But, I have a new ankle brace and im starting to hit the gym, made all the more easier to do by the fact that my new workplace has a gym (a damn good one too) in the office so im trying to get my lazy bones into it at least 4 times a week before work :)

So, Hello all :jump1:

Welcome! (new here as well)

Good luck with your recovery from the torn ligament. I've pretty weak ankles from football as a teenager myself, so I know that whole road to recovery. Doing the hot/cold buckets of water, too? :)

Hot and cold buckets? Never heard that one before lol, whats that then?

My left ankle is pretty much back on track can sometimes feel a little tender the morning after I do something sports wise with it, played football last night without a brace on it and it was a little stiff this morning but eased up after my cycle to work. My right ankle however is a different story, gets a little sore when its cold, gets sore after spending the day on my feet and gets really sore if I do any sports on it without a brace on lol.

When I did my right ankle in I had a physiotherapist help me get it back on track but I couldn’t get one when I did my right ankle in and I was a little bit lax when it came to exercising it like I should have but now that ive got a new brace for it im going to try and get it back into shape. Going to get myself some rubber exercise bands and get back to doing my ankle exercises regularly to get it back into shape.

The new brace ive got is fantastic though, used to use a BioSkin Tri-lock brace and although it held my ankle together around 9-10months down the line it struggled to hold its self together!! New one is a Mueller lace up one and although ive only had it around a month I feel like there is much less that can go wrong with it so it should hopefully hold itself together a bit better, also it allows my ankle a little more movement than the BioSkin brace so im hoping that will allow it to get some strength back into a little quicker :)
