Hi,
I'm signing on here at my wits end. I have come to the realization that if I don't lose this weight I'm dead within 5 yrs.
Well I went to the doctor and he said I was in perfect health. 220 pounds overweight but in perfect health.
So now that I got that info I was determined to lose that weight.
Then it hit me I have no idea how to go about doing that.
So after obsessing about it for four or five days; I decided to hop on here and see what happens.
Any help at all would be appreciated and I will do all I can to help in return.
My name is Brian and I'm morbidly obese.
That's the first step.
Thanks for reading.

Hey Brian - morbidly obese isn't perfect health. But there's good news, you can do something about it. Those of us who have been fat all our lives may have gotten used to the idea that fitness is unattainable, but we're so wrong!

Examine what you eat. Make small, healthful changes. Get active in whatever way is possible for you - the more often you do it, the more you'll be able to do.

I strongly urge you to keep this forum as your homepage and start a diary. It's a huge motivator and reminder. Remember, being healthier is WAY better feeling than any food can give you.

Personally I have a ways to go too, but this mentality has me off to a good start.

Welcome to the site, Brian!

It's great that you decided to take your future into your own hands. There is a lot of great information around the forums, and you can also ask anything that you aren't quite sure about. I would say one of the most important things about making this forum work for you is to visit every day and be active in discussions. It'll inspire you to see other people successes as well as your own.

Do you have any type of exercise plans, eating changes, or goal weights so far?

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the Hellos.
I have a set of goals and a loose idea of how to get there but what I think I need most is a support system consisting of people in the trenches.
If one more always thin person tells me how easy and basic it is I'm going to fold them in half.
I figure I would start out by cutting out...
Soda
Fast Food
Convenience stores
and anything with three or more ingredients I can't pronounce.
I'm trying to get more active and I think that is going to be the hardest part.
My goal is to weigh about 200 pounds (you know my 5th grade fighting weight, LOL)
I only have 215 pounds to go so I'm hoping by Christmas...2010.

Hi

Well congrats on trying to lose the weight. I know it can seem hard. I find if I break it down into smaller steps it can be easier (but don't fold me in half lol I didn't say it was "easy", just "easi-er" ;) Besides, I'm no skinny minny, believe me)

Walking every day for 10-15 minutes helps. Cutting out junk food is a bit harder but I try to eat more protein instead and that seems to curb the cravings.

Best of luck
