Hey welcome to the forums.

You need to first calculate your BMR ( basal metabollic rate ) and calculate how many calories it takes to maintain your weight, once you find this out you can gain weight by going OVER this number. It doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you get enough carbs, proteins, fats and as long as you go over your maintenance calories.

Expect a long post by chillen who will help you with nutrition
I'd also recommend reading the nutritional stickies and some of your answers will be answered there

For pre-workout, you want to get plenty of complex carbs so you have the energy to workout, you can get complex carbs from whole wheat bread, beans, etc. For a post-workout meal you should focus more on a high protein based meal to replenish your muscles, along with some simple carbs ( fruits, juice, etc )

What kind of routine are you planning to follow?
Do you have access to a gym? If Not, what kind of equipment do you own?
Read the weight lifting stickies, and ask some more specifcs

You have targeted your goal - gaining muscle. That process is called bulking around these parts. Read any stickies you see about bulking, learn the technique, ask questions and you'll accomplish your goals. Just out of curiosity, what is your waist size? It's gotta be 26, 27"?
