I guess I will introduce myself! Well My name is Greg, and I am 28 years old. I am also in the United States Marine Corps, been in since 1996. My current weight is 211 and I am 5'11" and my goal is to get down to 180 lbs. I guess my main problem is not understanding my weight gain or how exactly to control it. I hope to find those answers here! I currently eat what I want to and that is a bad thing! I have a sweet tooth I need to get under control. I run 3 times a week around 3 to four miles, but I suppose I out eat my running!:D
I am married to a gorgeous and wonderful woman named Manami, I met her while deployed in Japan, and we have been Married a bit over 2 1/2 years and had our first baby, Keila, on July 21st. I want to get myself back into shape for them. I want to be a husband and father they can be proud of again.
When I was deployed to Iraq I spent 6 months straight in the gym lifting weights, and was very happy with the results in strength and muscle growth, but the tummy remained. My goal is to build muscle strength and size and lose the gut.
Well I guess this is enough blabbing about me, I am happy to find this forum and hope to become a contributing member here. I could use all the help I can get in understanding calories and how to count them, and what I need to do to get in shape!!! My wife and daughter are currently in Japan until mid October, so I am living like a single man again, and I have to motivate myself to cook good stuff for myself!!! Help me out!

Welcome, and thank you for risking your life for my freedom. I too have the sweet tooth problem. My biggest problem was after dinner. What it took for me was going cold turkey and having a cup of fruity tea after dinner for a couple weeks. I slowly brought sweets back in, but better ones. I sub fruit when i can, but sometimes i gotta have my chocolate. For those times I found that weight watchers has some awesome ice cream bars and smart ones has yummy chocolate cake and ice cream treats. You can do this!!!!:D

Thank you for the welcomes!!! It is my honor to do the job I do! No thanks needed! But I do appreciate that people acnowledge us and care for us! So I am the one that needs to say thanks!!! I was doing some thinking today and I found a goal that I think will seriously help me in my quest to lose the weight. My wife and I never really had any proper wedding pictures taken, so I made a promise to her and to myself that in April we are going to get some gorgeous beach wedding photos taken! I have to look good for her in my tux!!! I already know she is going to look amazing! Thanks for the support everyone!

Thats a great goal and motivator. That gives me an idea. My husband and I have our 10 year anniv. in April, maybe we should do the photo thing. Thats a good motivator. Thanks for the idea!:D

hey gregory welcome! my boyfriend is also a Marine! so if there is one thing i have noticed about you guys is that you can put back a few beers ;) . not saying you do but if that is the case, i bet if you cut that back alot you will notcie a HUGE difference in the gut area that you were talking about! good luck to you and welcome! alot of motivation hanging out here! :)
