Just Drinking Water Regularly Really Jolted My Weight Loss...

If you aren't drinking water regularly and you are dieting you are definitely not losing as much weight as you can be. I really am shedding off the pounds now that I drink water. It's incredible that when I used to think I was hungry I was actually just thirsty.

Has anyone else had any experience with this?

I just spoke to someone today, not a nutritionalist or anything, but she does help with weight loss programs custom tuned to individuals. She recommended that everyone drink half their body weight in oz each day whether they are dieting or not.

I'll use me as an example. I weigh 390 lbs. I need to drink 195 oz of water each day. 1 gallon is 128 oz, so I should drink 1 1/2 gallons + a little bit. And, she suggested not doing it all at once:D. Small drinks throughout the day but done by supper, unless you want to get up 3 times a night to pee.

She won't even help me with diet or supplements until I have done this for 3 weeks. She said once my body gets used to being hydrated, I will probably start losing a little weight without changing anything else.

Anyone agree/disagree?

well, i'm not a dct but I think its just a myth of having to drink SO MUCH water. 195 oz, I'd be floating, lol

Drinking lots of water fills me up and keeps me from retaining it (when I drink too little or eat too much salt) so I agree, I have the same experience. Go h20

I have always heard this...and believed it. It seems to make a difference in my weight-loss, too, BUT a recent article in SELF magaizine claims that it has been proven that consuming these amounts of water is unnecessary and all the supposed benefits have actually been disproved.

Personally, I don't KNOW what the truth actually is, but I will continue to drink my water...but not half my body weight...no floating for me!

I've followed the half my body weight in ounces since the beginning of my weight loss adventure and can't complain too much about the results.. thoug h results are brought about more by consistent behavior rather than just drinking copious amounts of water.

I don't think there's a true set formula for how much water a person should drink -because there's water in a lot of foods - but a person should be mindful of the color o their urine.. (and I talk about this so much here i think I've got a borderline obsession with watersports) Unless you're taking large doses of vitamin B (which can make your pee flurouscent yellow) or have an underlying medical condition your urine should be a very pale yellow to almost clear... any darker and you're probably dehydrated....
