Juice Fast

Juice fasting can cause symptoms that have been listed, but it is from toxins leaving your system. You can have aches and pains all over and headaches from your body going into scar tissue from previous injuries and cleaning it out.

The first 2 days suck, on the 3rd day, I typically wake up feeling ready and energetic enough to clean the whole house.

Juice fasting is not easy but can be life altering.

My eyes turned a darker shade of green a few years ago, I figured it was just getting older.. After a 2 week juice cleanse, my eyes were much lighter!! My eyes had gotten darker due to toxins building up.

I think juice fasting is similiar to the all liquid diet that I was on and failed at. It does sound like a good detox procedure but maybe try eating fruits and veggies along with drinking them in smoothies and other drinks. Your body needs solid food to process and maintain itself. If you are going to go for it for a week, please be careful with it and good luck. :)

Fruit fasting, like Miaterith mentioned about, is regarded as a quick way to clean out the body before starting a Raw Foods diet. It is a good diet to try if you like fruit, veg and nuts. Literally, Raw Food diets involve little or no processed foods. Difficult, but interesting.

Take care!

I read the Natural Cures book and he puts the juice fast in as part of the recleansing process. The trick is to *buy a juicer* and use organic fruits and veggies. I do them for a period of three days every month, any longer and I feel like I'll die LOL. I would recommend getting a book if you are interested in doing this though. There are certain things you will need to incorporate into your juices to keep your body fueled correctly. Typically my juices ranged from apple/carrot - to strawberry/banana/carrot. If you are thinking of doing it for a longer period, you might want to fork out for the larger juicer that juices grass. Or, if like the rest of us, drinking grass doesn't seem to be your thing (yuk!) there are supplements you can toss in your juice that give you the added vitamins. Good luck, and remember this isn't by any means a 'diet'. It's a detox of your body, and if you're interested... make sure there's no smoking or alchohol consumption being involved - LOL.

I find that when I juice fast, I don't take in as many cals as I should be, and that results in my body feeling weak and deprived. I've tried drinking up to 5 glasses of different natural juices a day, and I still didn't feel as good as when I ate. I guess it depends on the person.

As for how long you should go, some people go up to 40 days on juice fasts. Or some only 2-3 days, it all depends on the reasons you are doing it for. Many people do it for weight loss, others do it to cleanse their system.

Most people say that you gain all of the weight back after, which you will if you don't break your fast right. You have to gradually build up to a normal amount of calories per day, if you go right back to eating solid foods all day, you will gain alot of the weight back.It seems not so hard, but believe me , it is. It takes alot of willpower to not break a fast with a binge. I also reccomend mild exercising while you are on a fast so you build up the muscle mass that you may lose on it.

Your body is a delicate machine; it needs certain combinations of different nutrients. Hence the Food Pyramid.

A juice fast

So I decided that after the holiday, I will officially be starting my 40 day juice fast. I have researching it for about a year as I attempted diet after diet and failed. My self control is awful and I need a little bit of help. So if anybody has any tips or comments to help. That would be greatly appreciated.
I will be posting results and comments every day starting July 5th at my website Let me know what you think if you visit it.
Thank you
Amy

Juice Fasting

I normally fast on water for 2-3 days but don't go much longer than that. Ihave been wanting to try a juice fast though so I can go longer. My all time favorite juice is orange juice and just half a glass makes me feel so incredibly full. Everything I read though suggests fresh juice. That would be a lot of work for me so I was wondering if it would really make that much of a difference if I used regular juice from the store? I drink 100% orange juice not from concentrate. Would this work???

Out of curiousity, what are your reasons for doing a juice fast? Quick weight loss? Ridding your body of "toxins?" Also, are you under medical supervision? It just fascinates me that people are willing to take such steps. I'm too much of a fan of that thing called "food." haha

How much weight do you normally loose on a fast ? Would you not just put it all back on the minute you start eating normal food again ?

It depends on the individual really and also on the duration of the fasting.

Also, I've had a few people I knew do juice/ water fastings and out of the 4.... 1 of them didn't gain anything back, but then again, she was a dumbass and would spend 3 hours in the gym busting her ass off on cardio (to burn God only knows how many calories) WHILE fasting. Talk about having issues. (She's now bulimic..) If anything, it's just a quick fix for most... unfortunately, we know how that ends.

Yeah I was thinking of trying it myself but I don’t know if I would bother if you don’t really loose much and end up all weak and stuff, I guess I will just keep doing what Im doing ! :)

Personally speaking, I believe fasting is great for those suffering from morbid obesity, but then again, these are medically supervised programs. But hey... if starving yourself for X days is going to make you feel better, then by all means do so. haha You just have to understand the psychological aspects of losing weight quickly. Good luck with your weight loss, Ellie.. oh and welcome to the WLF. :D

Since when is fasting on liquids, a better FAT loss method than a good diet and plenty of exercise? In other words, No, it would not work. FAT loss takes effort, determination, dedication, perseverance and patience. If you don't have that, then you'll fail, regardless of what type of fast or fad diet you're on. End of story

Yeah I think I will just stick to what I have been doing coz it seems to be working but I just wish it would go faster !!

Oh thanks, good luck to you too ! :)

I am not going to preach on how against fasting of this nature is, what I do want to do is open you up to a different idea method of fasting that supports better function.

Here is an interview about Intermittent Fasting.

Perhaps this method may be an option for you instead, it is much safer.
