Juice Fast

Too low in calories to provide any long term weight loss benefits, as this "diet" is usually 1-5 days. The juices that you should drink are organic juices that shouldn't contain salt, sugar, or additives. Due to not having food in your system you're likely to loss metabolism, become weak and disoriented.
Once you're done your fasting don't plan on eating a big meal the next day, ease slowly back into solids foods.

Juice Fasting

Anyone heard of juice fasting? Apparantly you drink nothing but fruit and vegetable juices for a week at a time. This is supposed to flush out your system and helps you drop a lot of poundage in a short period of time.

I'm not really sure I would like it, but interested to find out if someone has experience

:D

HI Sweetie,

I've heard of it - never tried it, but I don't think it is considered a weight-loss programm, rather are program to 'clean' your system and rid yourself of toxins. I think the weight you lose you will gain back within a few days of eating normal again.

Juice Fasting and Weight Loss

Hi to you both,
Actually you are right, juice fasting is an incredible way to cleanse the system and you generally lose about one lb per day. However, if you don't break the fast correctly and eat a better light diet, you will gain the weight back. You could also injure yourself if you go from one extreme to another. Read books by Paavo Airola, Norman Walker and Stanley Burroughs to learn more. I have personally helped many obese persons to begin to make the necessary changes to keep that weight off. See my website. Good luck.

I've always wanted to try this. I'm terrified of drinks with calories, but it's still worth a shot. Perhaps I'll try it after thanksgiving (which I'm spending in Niagara Falls with my boyfriend!!!)

Juice fasting vs. salad

Hey everyone I was wondering if I would lose more weight doing a 30 dAy juice fast or just eating salads with low fat/fat free dressings and raw veggies...i know i have to change my lifestyle all together after but I need a jump start and I need something that will work quick because I have an event at the end of the month
If anyone has any other suggestions for a quick jumostart please tell me as well but i need something dramatic

I guess it depends on what's on your salad--if you had lots of veggies with some protein, like chicken breast or tuna, then salads all that time might be healthy. I would just worry about getting a balanced diet with enough carbs, protein, and fat. I definitely wouldn't try juice only for 30 days--I can't think where you'd get any protein, fat, or fiber.

Maybe if you're looking for a dramatic start, you could try something like South Beach, where the first phase should give you a big jump, but then there's a structured way to move on to more long-term eating.

I'll agree, South Beach is a good diet to jump start. I lost about 20 pounds in a month when I was last on it. You end up eating a lot of salads on it, but you have some choice. The basic premise of South Beach, if you haven't heard of it, is to cut out all carbs at first for about 2-4 weeks (I did my first phase for 4), and then very gradually introduce them back into your diet, but being more selective about the kinds of carbs you eat, because there are "good" carbs (like a baked potato) and there are "bad carbs" (a bag of chips). For that first period though, you're basically limited to veggies and meat, since the natural sugars in fruit are considered carbs as well.

Juice Fasting

I know lot of you guys think fasting is bad...however, if done properly, fasting can cure any # of ailments and it is cleans your system of toxins..(if done long enough). I recommend juice fasting using a juicer and fresh fruits & veggies..bottled juices are dead and will only make you hungry. Don't knock it till you try it..I've seen people benefit beyond your wildest imagination from juice fasting. With juice, you don't deprive your body of calories..you digestive system just goes to sleep from solid food withdraw.. It's one of the best things you could do for your body with all the preservatives, toxins, and other garbage we eat in convenience foods, fast foods, ect. Seriously, our bodies were not created to eat all those chemicals..it just makes sense.

it does make a bit of sense, ive heard so many contradictory things about fasting, whether it be water fasts or juice fasts or complete fasts...i would love to know more about them, both good and bad just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me anything?:p

I'm curious. I would like to try a juice fast. I have a good juicer so where do you begin? A 1 day fast, 2 day?

I'd say a couple of days tops, you don't want your body to go into 'starvation' mode and store away fat for a rainy day....lol. I have heard of water cleansing where it is only for a day...;)

How about the Epsom salt flush  If you want a fast cleansing and want to eliminate any build-up (that putting it nicely).

Be warned: You must stay home and have a bathroom near by and you will need to drink water, water and more water (to prevent dehydration).

I do this about once a month...to cleanse my system

The juice fasting is just a form of detox. And the key thing about detoxing is that it is *not* a way of losing weight. Detox, as we know, is a way of clearing impurities. It may sound glamourous, but it is in no way exciting:

The first two days, you feel extremely tired and irritable. By the 3rd day, you're left with headaches and nausia. 5th day, your skin starts to suffer, and starts to become spotty. By the end, you're supposed to feel like a new person.

If you want a flushed out system, then a proper detox (with all the right foods and such) is fine, but does little for weight-loss.

I remember a diet plan where you had "fruit and veg days." Self explanitory; you spend a day munching on fruit and veg. Same applies to "water days." Wouldn't work if it was regular I guess, though I'd like to try it sometime.

I've tried Juice fasting before. It seemed to work okay but I missed the taste of food...Don't thnk I could ever stick to it.

epson salt fast is bad for your body.

as for juice fast.. yes they are good.. but not for too long. But min time ofcourse has to be 24 hrs.. max time it takes for food to pass entirely through your body. I say 48 - 72 hrs.
