Jugs' Diary. I can do this.

Hi to everyone :waving: I'm new here, and am hoping a diary will help me along the way to losing weight. This is not something I want to do for a few months to drop a few stone, this will be my new lifestyle.

I weighed myself on the 10th of January 2009- 14 stone 5 lbs.
I am currently 13 stone 12 lbs. So have lost half a stone since January. I had hoped to have more lost by now, but hey, that's my fault.
My goal weight is 10 stone.

Food wise-I am avoiding carbs. So I am eating lots of protein and veg.
Am eating 5 times a day. (3 meals and 2 snacks).
I drink 2 ltrs of water a day also.

Exercise- I go to the gym 3 days a week. I do weights and intervals on the threadmill.
However, I am upping my days in the gym, and from this week will be going 5 days. Will do threadmill and bike on the extra 2 days.

I smoked my last cigarette on Friday. Am hoping I won't replace one bad habit with another!

I weigh myself every Thursday so will post my weight loss here once a week.

I am sick of being on diets, starving myself, then stuffing my face.
Lose a stone, and put back on 2 stone.

This is it- This is where I will do it right- Eat right. Exercise. And look at this as a lifestylle change and not a diet. The word diet scares me!

Hope I can get to know you all more, over the next few weeks. :grouphug:

Well done on your weight loss. 44lbs since October. Wow.

So here is what I ate today:

9am-: Protein powder with natural low fat yogurt and mixed milled seeds.

12pm-: Scrambled egg (Made with one egg and 2 egg whites).

3pm-: Homemade veg soup with a small salad of prawns, spinach, red pepper and cherry tomatoes.

6pm-: Ratatouille with chicken fillet.

Been a good day eating wise, but I didn't make it to the gym today as I had a sick child here!

Tomorrow, I will make it to the gym.

welcome!

hey juggs good to see another recent smoker on here, I quit on Jan 1 of this year and everyone is right, you will start to feel alot better here shortly! It seems that you are in a very good state of mind to start your journey, good luck and I look forward to watching you progress!

Thanks, FG.

I'm struggling today though. Am having serious cravings for a cig and its only 10am here!
I was at the gym this morning and I can already feel the benefits of giving them up.
I've just got to take it one day at a time.

Ok so, I did 7 min warm up on the bike. Then 40mins of weights. 15mins intervals on threadmill and 10 mins on the bike.
I'm eating my breakfast now. And I need to pop to the shops and get something for lunch and dinner.

I'm feeling very emotional today, I don't know why!

I'm going to chew my fingers off. Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I'm struggling. I really am. Feeling healthier from being off the smokes, but boy, am I finding it hard.

Why did I go back smoking after being off them for 3 years? Dammit woman, very silly of you. :cuss:

Thank goodness I have no crap food in the house, I couldn't trust myself not to stuff my face, if there was.

I have peed at least 10 times so far today from all the water I've drank. Trying to keep my mouth and hands busy! Hmmm, there are other naughty ways I'm sure :Angel_anim:

Sigh.

Haha, I drink copious ammounts of green tea to keep my hands busy and stop me from binging...so i'm totally with you on that one! haha

I'm so hungry today.

Breakfast- Protein powder, natural yogurt and milled seeds.

Snack- Grilled peppers with balsamic vingear and garlic.

Lunch- Salmon with roasted veg.(Red onion, garlic, cherry tomatoes and corgette).

I have dinner cooking away!

Dinner- Homemade turkey burgers (no bun) with a side salad.(Spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, mixed peppers and a small bit of chilli).

I am just too hungry to wait for a later dinner.

So I'm sure by 7pm I will be hungry again. If so, I may have a bolied egg.

yea they say that the first week is the hardest, I chewed gum like a mad man when I quit, the habit of smoking is just as addictive as the nicotine, just hang in there, get through the first week and it'll be smooth sailing. Remember, it's not as hard as everyone tells you it is, you just gotta do it.

great job ;)

you have time to loose your kilos/stones whatever (Here we just measure in kg) why the hell should you by thin just rigth now....can't work and if you want to loose weigth in an healthy way it takes time ;) Therefor go on like this ;)

Quiting smoking is an other great thing....unfortunately I am still smoking....but once in my life I want to quit....but not now...can't explain why...just because -_- But....I don't smoke thaat much....like not a package per day..."just" 6-7 (which is bad..no way...but not as bad as smoking a whole package)

However...keep up the good work ;)

Hello new friend.
Good for fighting the urge to smoke.
You are in double jeopardy by quiting the cigs and dieting together but I have a trick for your to try. Do an activity that will bring your body temp up so that you sweat for at least 20 minutes...That will usually kill the feelings of cravings. Plus the added positives of exercise....Just an idea

good call! every time I want a smoke I go to the gym or just knock out some push ups in my office, follow that with a few big gulps of water, and voila! no more smokey cravings

Hey jugs. I'm fairly new here myself (just started last week). Anyways, first off congrast on quitting the smoking. I also quit last Dec 1. The only difference is I had the Doc to help me (ie. Chantix). Once I hit my quit date a week after starting the pill, I never had any cravings at all. They worked like a dream.

Anyways jwanted to say good luck to you and stay with it. With dedication comes reward.

Pretty good day.

Did 1 hour in the gym today. 50 mins weights and 10 min intervals on the threadmill.

Breakfast: Protein powder, milled seeds, natural yogurt.

Lunch: 2 boiled eggs.

Snack: Protein shake.

Dinner: Homemade meatballs with veg.

Hitting the gym again tomorrow. And I'm getting fustrated cause I've lost 7lbs so far and I can't see a difference yet.

hey you

GREAT Job on quitting smoking!!
I personally didn't feel it was difficult because I started working out and eating healthy! (I breathe so much more easily now)!!!! I've been off it since Jan 01 and it was even a planned resolution!! haha..

You are doing the PERFECT thing by working out as soon as you quit so u can see the pros of quitting!! :cheers2:
Keep it up and chew a lot of gum to kill the urge!!!

Remember you DON'T want to go through all of this again!!!!!!

ALL THE BEST!!! :hurray:

Hey J
Still fightin the good fight?
I hope so.
You will see some results soon if you keep on track.
The smoking urges should ease up a bit very soon as your body begins to clean out.
Think of the money you will save Whats a pack cost now? Like 4 bucks here
