Journey to Knowing

One full hour of water workout including 350 meters swimming. I couldn't do 50 meters a couple of weeks ago. These were continuous laps. I could've kept going but they were closing the pool.
this is a strictly an off the wall comment in regard to my own experience in swimming laps... first off, when i realized my breathing was all wrong, i went from being able to swim a few laps to being able to swim more than a mile and 2) believing nothing was wrong with my style, listening to one of the coaches who frequented the Y and working on my swimming posture, it cut my lap time almost in half. throughout most of my life i have pretty much been able to handle most sports with little to no coaching, but in retrospect, i have to think swimming is likely one of the least natural activities for humans. it was totally worth having someone critique my swimming style.

One hour water aerobics then I swam 400 meters. I'm getting stronger w the swimming. Took half the time today to swim 400 than it did 350 earlier this week. I think tomorrow I'll do the stationary bike or nustep. Gotta find face cream if I'm going to be in the water several days a week. Thinking of switching my in-office day to mondays so I can go to water aerobics on Tuesdays as well. That and a lot of federal holidays between now and March are on mondays and then I wouldn't have to drive to the city at all.

Scale in the locker room said I was 242. :jump:Right! Nope actually 270.4....which is down over a pound so yay me.

@overlandflyer total synchronicity here! I realized my breathing was f'd up on my crawl today. All the body memory from swim team crashed into me and boom! there I was cruising through the water. That's why my time decreased and I was able to do more at a faster pace wo fatigue. Great idea asking for critique. There's a swim team that practices and maybe I can ask a coach for help. I know my right arm stalls out on the crawl. And lord knows what my form looks like in this body! Thanks for the suggestion!

I have never been able to sustain my heartbeat at an aerobic rate without my ptsd kicking in. Tonight i did 30 minutes on the bike with 10 and 5 minutes w my heartbeat between 116-119 and no reaction. I had to titrate the 400 meters of swimming after the bike but I am so okay with that. Texted my former psychiatrist because she's probably the only person who gets the significance. She was ecstatic. And I'm exhausted. I used goggles tonight for first time. My eyes feel better. Progress.

Saturday I'm shooting for an hour at the bike. Gonna try the free gym near my house. And i hope to make it to a couple of farmers markets.

Rest day today as far as exercise. My foot was over stressed yesterday. I'm back in the boot today to give it some relief.

I got up at 5 and was at a farmers market an hour away when it opened at 8. Ran a couple of other errands and now I'm getting a little rest. Long list of things to do later but now I rest.

1,000 meters in 25 minutes with 100 meters full out crawl (totally exhausted me) and later another 50 full out. I finally remembered the legs/arms for breast stroke. Can't keep it going for a full lap but I'll get there. Backstroke was my swim team thing and I remembered how to look behind me. Started giggling like a kid. Anyway. Decent workout. I warmed up by walking 15 minutes. All the lanes were full and the cross currents made walking more fun and challenging. Down another .2.

May try a new approach.
Monday - morning swimming & evening bike and weights (slowly added)
Wednesday - evening swimming
Thursday - morning bike & weights & evening water aerobics/swimming
Friday - morning swimming
Sunday - swimming

But if i change my in office day to Monday then:
Tuesday - evening water aerobics/swimming
Wednesday - morning swimming & evening bike
Thursday - morning bike & weights & evening water aerobics/swimming
Friday - morning swimming
Sunday - swimming

Not sure which weight machines to try. I really need to meet with a trainer but I'm hoping the new primary will refer me to ortho and physical therapy. It won't be any cheaper but I'll be more comfortable with a certified physical therapist telling me what to do.

Forgot about the crash and the injured foot. The schedules above are my goals once my foor heals and my endurance builds. I'll wing it for a few more weeks.

Had my first major post-workout panic attack last night at 1:30. It was frightening and horrible. But I'm thankful to have gone a month without a major attack. Now to figure out how to molify the response while sustaining the intensity of the workouts.

For the first time I did not drink chocolate milk on my way home. I was trying to stick to the IF and keep my macros in check. Gonna rethink that and work the milk in because that's the only difference I can zoom in on. No idea why it would make such a difference. I'll be damned if I'm stopping this momentum.

Was able to see my body do the weird stuff it does. Intended to do 60 minutes on recumbent bike. Kept my heartrate 111 and below for 20 minutes and then uppes it to 118. That didn't go well. It kept spiking to 121, which is over my max, even on the easy section. Then my muscles froze up and heartrate plummited to under 103 even at 70rpm on an uphill climb. My heart would not beat faster. I could feel the panic rising so I stopped at 40 minutes. But how utterly fascinating. To actually see my body heading into bad stuff.

I didn't swim tonight. My shoulder needed a rest day. Oh and I finally got ice pack socks. Brilliant invention. I'm going to leave a note at my new neighbor askig if I can buy access to the lake during the week....like $40 a month. That'll allow easy access w the kayak. I can't get it down, or me down, the steep hill where I'm allowed to access. Would love to start paddling.

I love the achievements you're making - being able to not get dizzy when bending down to tie your shoe feels like a really good one - reflecting better overall health and better ability to do more to get even healthier. I hope your neighbour says "Oh, no, don't worry about paying! The lake belongs to all of us, not just those with waterfront properties."
