Journey, Not A Destination

I've heard a lot of similar things... it will be interesting to see how it all plays out, especially with the confounding pressures of rising demand in these emerging countries and the unstable supply.

There is untapped reserves of oil, though. Right here in our own country I'm sure. But drilling is not something people want in their back yards.

I have an Econ degree too, btw. That shit was boooorrrrriiiinnggg!

LMAO!

Yes, Econ major was terribly dreadful at times. I loved my first econ class, not so much after it started going into all the advanced theory. Macronean Theory, ahhh!! :banghead: By the time I was done, I never wanted to see or draw another graph again in my life. I did find economics of ancient civilizations fascinating though. Great class, teacher blew chunks, but the book was great.

Hey Steve! Hope you have a fabulous weekend. I'm going to use my GPS watch tomorrow at my TNT run. I'll let you know how it works if it doesn't break my wrist first. LOL

I hope you enjoy your TNT stuff! Let me know how the watch does. This weekend for me is going to be a battle between me and my temper and the heat.

I didn't have a class like that.

Or I don't remember. I was drunk most the time in college but managed to graduate magna cum laude with a degree in this and finance. Both were boring as all hell and I knew they were a mistake from the get go.

LOL, most of the kids at my college were the same way, but they didn't graduate with honors. You must really be good at accessing short term memory. LOL JK

I loved my finance classes, found them fascinating, when I understood it that is. I graduated with honors too.

I know what you mean though, the boredom. That is why I decided to minor in History of Art. Studied mostly the ancient civilizations, but what was really interesting was how art, architecture, and the like, we closely knitted with economics. It was through studying their economy that they understood how the art was commissioned and paid for, or buildings or temples constructed.

Point being, the art history made school enjoyable for me, though it was equally as tough in the area of studying.

I was just talking with a good friend of mine today and he was explaining how much she hates me. I was blessed with a photographic memory and this strange ability to go into like tunnel vision when taking exams. I still do it now...

I admit I'm a lucky bastard.

I was working for a financial advising firm when I was in high school so it was cool to reinforce some of the things I didn't understand yet. I definitely liked finance better than econ.

That's cool that you added that twist to it. If I could do it all over again I'd drop all the boring stuff all together and do something with physiology, nutrition or psychology. Anymore I lean more and more towards psychology.

I tried the masters route for exercise physiology and it was boring. I've spent my life learning the 'trade' as well as living it so it sucks to hear some schlup of a prof 'teach' me it all over again.

I sound so arrogant right now, lol. I promise I'm an idiot with pretty much everything else, hahahaha.

I'm accounting major and also graduated magna cum laude...looks like we have a little in common here. I sobered up in just enough time to graduate in the top 10% and then went on to kick the shiat out of the CPA exam. I am a CPA by trade and love it...how could you possibly think finance is boring? Aren't you an advisor? LOL...just giving you crap. I live and breath debits and credits. haha

OMG! I know exactly what you are talking about. I have that too! It really was something else to be able to remember something when I saw it again. I was great at multiple choice! LOL I am a photographic learner for sure. Some of my friends were so jealous.

Wow, you started young!

I too thought I wanted to go into psychology. I even had it as my 2nd major, in my long line of changes. After a few psych classes, I was out of there. I knew I could not sit and listen to people's problems all day. It was a fascinating field though. Amazing how "textbook" people can be. Literally, I'd say so and so is chapter 8. LOL
I sound so arrogant right now, lol. I promise I'm an idiot with pretty much everything else, hahahaha.

I didn't think you sounded arrogant at all. Perhaps I might be arrogant too? Nah, we're not arrogant. Can't hate us for being highly intel. LMAO JK

I hate pretty much every single thing about finance from the dealings with rich pricks who wouldn't know happiness if it slapped them in the face to the idiot advisors who snake clients out of their money with no morals.

There's just not a lot I respect in the industry to be honest and I'm all about respect. Economists are like weatherman. They're paid to guess at their job and they're paid well.

Than you have the actual finance guys who are dealing with the clients and they like to pretend they know more than the economists when all they're really doing is piggy-backing the economists... yet think they sound real smart and look real cool

It's not all bad, I know.

I just have a thing about me where if I'm in a room full of 'suits' I want to rip my shirt off and start busting heads. It's just too much smoke and mirrors for my liking.

It's just not the industry for me. Right now if I remain in that industry I will most likely move to the compliance side of things. I already barely do any actual advising anymore. I'm more on the investment and employee management side of things.

If things go right though, I probably won't do it forever. But that's a big maybe since there are a lot of variables at play.

It's a beautiful thing, isn't it? Plus I love taking tests. I don't really care what certifications I have, I just enjoy the process. I just started looking at the book for the National Strength and Conditioning's CSCS cert. It's supposed to be the toughest one out there. So far it's a joke. Another industry that has a hard time holding my respect... though compared to finance it has it big time.

I think after the CSCS I'll get my ISSN, which I also heard is real tough but we'll see.

Wow, you started young!

It's in the family. Trust me, it's not a field I would have went into if it weren't for the family... I was doomed from the start!

Yea, I'm not sure if I would have liked it or not. I definitely would never have been a sofa-rider asking people about their problems. The only reason I am interested in it is personal training. People come to you and you'd expect it to only be about their physical condition. But they bring ALL of their problems with the and they want help with it all. Plus, we all know this is just as much a mind game as it is a physical challenge.

I'm actually writing an article right now on the topic.

I didn't think you sounded arrogant at all. Perhaps I might be arrogant too? Nah, we're not arrogant. Can't hate us for being highly intel. LMAO JK

True dat yo! :p

I like taking tests too. We sound like geeks. I often find myself online doing some random test for who knows what, just because I too like the process. When I took my test for my sailing certificate, sheesh, what a joke. Talk about easy breezy. The actual practical exam sailing though was straight horrifying. I was scared to death out there in the bay, but I passed. I can sure turn that boat around and do the man overboard maneuver! LOL

I'm picking up what you are putting down. Strange how much we think alike in some areas. I too have been wanting to go back and study more psych, just for the power of understanding people. I want to be able to talk to any crazy fool and not say the wrong thing also. It is so hard to relate to some people without "skills." Everyone has a different way of expression and understanding of the world. Talk about psyching people out!! LOL

Most tests seem easy. I'm not sure what that's saying. Either the people behind the tests need them to be somewhat easy because there's a monetary incentive for more 'members' or the standard by which test questions are geared towards is really fucking low. It's probably a combination of both in truth.

I've done a lot of my own research. I'm self taught on pretty much anything I love... works out better for me in most cases so far. Psychology was something I wasn't even aware I had an interest in until I started working so closely with people. Even then I wasn't aware. I started looking into what makes people tick and how you can utilize the mind to help people be more stable and driven. One thing led to another and I was hooked. A real cool facet I'm still interested in is sports psychology. I think it would be amazing to help professional athletes mentally prepare for contest. I have so many things I'd love to do... it's my ADD that makes sure I'll never be content with a career. At least outside of training.

If you can tap into that, that will be an amazing tool. Getting people to believe "they can" do something and achieve greatness. You're going to need boxing gloves or a special tool to knock off all the chips that are on some people's shoulders. LOL Oh and make sure to recycle those chips, don't want them polluting the environment. :biggrinjester:

I've learned you can't reach everyone, that's for damn sure. I also learned it's not worth trying. I pride myself in not crossing any lines where I'm diagnosing mental disorders. I just take a fraction of the fraction of the psychology universe I know and apply it where it fits with weight loss and athletics. I don't think it will ever be any more than that.

I might integrate a chapter of psychology into a book I eventually write in my dreams, lol.

You know when I was studying psych, many moons ago, I remember my professor saying that it was such a new field of study. So many broad classifications and generalizations go on. It's going to be very interesting to see how psych develops in the next few decades. Many Mental disorders, I believe, are a result of poor diet and lack of vital nutrients and the like.

You are onto something there with making the connection between the mind and the body in terms of health and fitness. Obviously there are some very serious problems going on in the US, with our % of overweight people.

You never know, you might discover a secret or two along the way when you write your book.

Happy Sunday...
Hope you're enjoying bachelor weekend and getting lots of reading and napping done... (Idon't intend that to sound as boring asit could potentially be :)

Hope you had a successful trip to new york and you're changing one more life for the postive...

Thanks Mal...

Weekend hasn't been as relaxing as I'd like. I've been waking up extremely early and staying up real late... so I'm short on sleep. I did have a successful trip to NY and Gordy and I did get a decent amount of work done. We do realize though each time we do good how much more there is to do. We're up to 50 videos already and we haven't even gotten to the meat of things.

Today I actually hope to get some reading done and avoid the heat.

but what an accomplishment it will be when you're ready to open... it's a lot of work that you're doing -but Ihope you're having some fun while you're doing it (yeah I know you are) and I hope you're getting something out of the creative process as well...

so do we get any tales of krista's funfilled bachelerottey weekend?

:D

or what happens in atlantic city - stays in atlantic city :)

hope you're having a dandy day

Krista had a good time...

She's not of the type who likes to go out with a bunch of catty women, drink, gamble and go to bars. But it sounds like she made the best of it. Actually seemed like she had a bit of fun.

I didn't hear any stories beyond some guy unzipping his pants and exposing himself to all the girls there. He was then kicked out of the bar.

Supposedly he had a lot to show though, haha.
