Journey, Not A Destination

Is it soy protein or is it whey? What is the name of the product?

Gee, maybe I am getting slow in my old age, but I am still not understanding what you are doing!!!

It is soy protein! Furthermore, what is it you dont understand? I think my current excersise setup is quite straight forward.. but I can explain it by breaking it down for you..??

Ditch the soy and get whey.

So my diet started today. I am extremely excited. My starting weight is 199. Goal?

I don't really have a goal weight. I simply want to lose as much fat as possible while maintaining most of my muscle mass.

I am mainly excited because as I transition into a diet, many variables change. I will now hit the weights only 3 times per week opposed to 4. I will bump up my running. No HIIT yet, but I will add some if need be closer to June. Plus, I was getting sick of eating so much. Although I don't drastically alter my caloric intake, rather, I ease my way into a diet. It is still a relief to see some of the portion sizes reduce.

So wish me luck. It's been a while since I was very lean. I leave for Hawaii 7/8/07. I want to be ripped by then. :D

Hey Steve-

Thanks for stopping by my diary. I responded in my diary about the personal trainer thing...actually looking less likely at this point.

Good luck with your new goals. How is it that I know you'll be exactly where you want to be by July?

Jen

don't you mean ripped-er? You'd look pretty darn good on a beach now...

hawaii - very nice :)

Ripped is a relative term, of course. :)

During my bulk, I lost a lot of my definition in my abs. I used to have an 6 pack. Not so much anymore. I was fine with it going in "hiding" for a while, since I knew it would be back.

But psychologically, I am ready to be defined again.

And certain parts of me stay pretty cut, even during a bulk. For instance, my back still has excellent definition IMO. The pick in my AVI is pretty recent. It should be interesting to see what it looks like after the diet.

I'll swing by your diary again to check out your response.

And you are right, I will be right where I want to be come July. :D

I think being confident in what you are doing is a major contributing factor to adherence, consistency, and success. Belief, more so than confidence.

And if I am not exactly where I want to be, I won't fret. I stopped killing myself if the scale didn't say exactly what I wanted it to or if I didn't look exactly how I had hoped, a long time ago. Planning for perfection is futile.

I, as well as the rest of us, are works in progress. That will never change. And because of this... perfection is an impossibility.

My 2 cents of course.

Belief is more of a help than confidence is - at least from where i'm sitting - confidence in what I do I don't have -belief that i will get to where i want - I do - and there's a world of difference between the two...

Right, that is what I said. So I agree.

Both come with education and changing the way you think. And both are incredibly important. Part of the reason why I used to love being a trainer. I mean, of course it was great helping people achieve something they REALLY wanted. I felt like Santa!

But equally, I loved helping people establish confidence and belief. That, IMO, was the true gift.

Good Morning, Steve..and thank you for you post this morning in my diary! How thoughtful.

Anytime! :)

I noticed you are starting your diet today, and I want to wish you great success on that. So, are you going for that lean, ripped look, like I see every summer when I hit up the beach in Cali. for Volleyball Tourneys, and the guys all look completely shredded? Did that make any sense to you? HA!

Yes, I am going for the lean look. However, I am probably more muscular than a majority of the v-ball players you see. They normally don't train how I train. Most v-ball players I see are what I call, "skinny-lean." Sure, they are ripped and you can see their muscles. However, I wouldn't call them "big."

If that makes any sense, haha.

I love the confidence you have, and that is one of the things which drives that high motivation of yours. I know you will be successful in your ever changing work of art (body)

Thanks very much Deanna.

I love Hawaii, it is such a wonderful place. Where will you be spending your time? I have a silly little story from one vacation our family took there. It happened on Molakai...let me know if you want to hear it.

Have a great day my friend-

Deanna

We will be staying on Maui. And I would love to hear your story!

Morning, Steve. I know you'll get the look you want. The girls in Hawaii will be stalking you! So does your weight program on a cut look a lot like the one you designed for me?
