Journey, Not A Destination

I agree an undergrad nutrition book is probably my best bet but i will definately take a look at Lyle's book. I guess finding a good book with a philosophy you agree with is hard but then again getting all different perspectives is a good thing sometimes.

Thanks again for your time.

Matt

This is especially the case when it comes to research papers themselves with clinical trials, I always have statistic books to reference to, because believe it or not... most clinical research papers are crap when it comes to reporting and confounding factors.

Agreed....

The extrapolative most certainly isn't useless. Hell, I'm learned just as much if not more from Lyle's books than many texts. I simply believe having the foundational knowledge in place while reading the extrapolative stuff magnifies what you 'walk away with' after reading them.

Morning Steve :waving:

I liked this quite a LOT and it reminds me of the earnestness with which people, who are turning a new leaf so to speak, seem to embody in the beginning of their weightloss and fitness gaining experience:

"When I am inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all my thoughts break their bounds: my mind transcends limitations, my consciousness expands in every direction and I find myself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and I discover myself to be a greater person by far than I ever dreamed myself to be."

That's excellent Val. I really like that. Part of what I do as a trainer if find ways for my clients to maintain that 'feeling.'

I think part of the root, might be a small part, is changing how one defines him/herself and when that sort of definition changes, perceptions, beliefs and passions tend to change.

If you're not passionate about what you're doing. If your actions aren't backed by intense desire and emotion... maintaining this 'feeling' most likely isn't going to last long.

Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome, glad you like it.

This morning I woke up early to meditate (LOL!!!!) and chant, do Yoga, etc., and in the shower I started coming up with all these excellent things to say to friends.....and dammit they started to fade away! Grrrrrr I need to write shit down!

Haha, people always laugh at that. But I'm schizo! My mind wanders ridiculously, especially when I'm laying in bed before falling asleep. I used to have awesome ideas, I'd repeat them like 20 times, drift to sleep, and come morning they were less than a figment of my imagination.

It would piss me off so much and I've used Dictaphones with clients before to record initial assessments, comments and thoughts which I would later file.

It helps a ton.

Thanks Val!

Here's a smilie just for you:

Oops!

Though that does suit you considering your experiences with foot fetishism... I meant to use this one:

Heya Steve, bugger about that shooting - that sucks. Poor call though to try going for the gun i agree.

Hiya Liz!

Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to taking pics yet. Life is unbearably hectic at the moment. Yea, I know... taking pics takes 5 seconds. I truthfully don't even know where my camera is from the move, lol.

Yesterday was my first leg day in quite a while and boy am I sore. I did:

Squats - 5x5
Romanian Deadlifts - 5x5
Bulgarian Split Squats - 3 sets RP
Calves
Core

I really really really have to start working on hip and ankle mobility. It's taking a toll.

This weekend I'm planning on pricing out some equipment from home. With my 'taste' for gym stuff, it's probably going to be a pricey list!

Hips are a bitch. Commuting as much as I do always knocks my right hip out of the loop more than the left.

I've been working on hip opening for the past 3 months and made very little progress. Very little. They ARE much stronger from all the.........in not-Sanskrit, I guess it's called isometric lunges ;) Hey! They LOOK good :) :seeya:
