Journey, Not A Destination

Hey, Steve. Glad you had such a great time in Hawaii. Marlene and I used to live there, around 1976 - before you were born, LOL. It really is a beautiful place, but after a while we got "rock fever."

I could see how that could happen. I'd like to have a vacation property there but that flight is not something I think I could do very often. It really took it out of me.

So sorry to hear about the plane flight. There's a group somewhere on the web that's collecting experiences like yours to help push for a Passenger's Bill of Rights. Basically, it would be against the law for an airline to hold you against your will on the tarmac for more than 3 hours I think. I used to fly 200,000 miles a year; I would go nuts if I had to do that these days.

I've heard this actually. It's pathetic. Only business that could get away with treating their customers like that.

[/qoute]Now you start life as a married man. You can slow down on the exercising, sit on the couch a bit more, and let that fat start accumulating around your gut -- like the rest of us poor souls! :D[/QUOTE]

The only time in my life where I could see me cutting back on training how I do now is when my boy (pray to God I have one) wants to start training for sport. That is, if he wants to.

Then, I would start training him, and I'd train with him, for sport instead of physique.

So instead of just focusing on strength, I'd also focus on power.

Other than that.... there will be no alterations to lifestyle relative to fitness. When she married me, she was fully aware with what she was getting. :)

Glad you're back--we missed you! :D

But we're all thrilled about your wedding, how it was spectacular and everyone had fun dancing! Congrats again and again!!

I bet your cat missed you! :)

Looking forward to the pictures, take your time but know we're all IMPATIENT!!
LOL!!

Things have been pretty interesting on here! Lots of people working hard, trying her/his best--oh man wait til you read Tom's! For myself I had a couple minor setbacks in running--a wasp stung my foot and it swelled for 4 days, then right after that same ankle gave out on me in the woods and I sprained it :( Today it feels good, though.

Anyway, glad to have you back around! have a great day!!!:hug2:

Thanks Val! I haven't even seen any pics from my wedding, LOL. Not a one. We got married, went to a hotel, got picked up the next morning early for the airport, and we were off. I haven't talked to anyone yet and I just checked the website of my photographer and she hasn't even posted the pictures up yet.

I know a lot of my friends and fam took pics too, so hopefully I can get some from them.

I have some good pics from Hawaii, but they are mostly landscape shots..... actually all of them are. I'll post them up soon.

I'll have to check out Tom's journal. I'm sure he's doing just fine.... he's pre-wired for success.

Glad your foot is feeling better. I hate bees!!!!

Careful on that ankle.... no point in pushing and making it worse.

Here are some Hawaii pics.

This set is from our balcony from the first hotel we stayed in:

Looking to our right was the ocean and a couple of islands off shore. Looking straight out was the hotel pool and "courtyard." Looking to our left was mountains.

Some of the shots are cool. There was a wildfire on the mountain that raged for almost a day. There was a small tornado. Needless to say.... it was a great view from our room. The pictures do it no justice.

The following pics are taken from our trip up Mt. Haleakala.... a dormant volcano in Maui. It's also the highest peak in Maui. Supposedly it is one of the best sunsets and/or rises you'll see in the world. It was the best by far that I've ever seen.

It was an interesting trip. The road up to the top is extremely windy. You'll see a shot or two of the edge of the road dropping off into the clouds with no guard-rail.

It was 85 degrees at the bottom of the mountain. It was 30 at the top. I was freezing!!!!

You could see multiple islands from the top. You can see a peak of the second highest mountain range peaking through the clouds in a shot or two.

The coast line that you see in a few of the pics and the ocean is that actually right near the first hotel I was staying in.

This was a very beautiful trip:

The wildfire looks dangerous!

The pictures are beautiful to say the least. It all looks really romantic *sigh* I'm glad you had fun. Start of a lifelong romance, eh..

PS: Thanks for your help in the HT forum :)

Nobody was hurt in the fire thankfully. Unfortunately, a couple hundred acres were burned. And a few weeks prior to my arrival in Maui, a wildfire right down the street burned 2300 acres. It is unusually dry.

And you are welcome for the advice. It looked like you were getting decent advice already... hate stepping on toes... but I like to speak in terms of "big picture applicability" too, and that's what I was trying to get across to you.
