Im thinking about joining a gym but im really nervous about it. I have been trying to lose weight for about a year. im 4'11 and 135 pounds now I was 170 pounds and I have about 10 or 15 more I want to lose to be according to my BMI a "normal" weight. But it just seems that these last 10-15 pounds do not want to come off and I thought ok maybe its time to join a gym and theres one not far from me that cost 45 dollars a month with no contract is this a good deal? Also is there anything I should look for like which machine's are the best? Thanks so much for all of your help :)

check the stickied threads in this forum and you'll get a lot of your questions answered....

for weights, you really want to stick with free weights.. rather than the machines... and there's a thread or two devoted to that topic..

make yourself comfortable and start reading - printing... then get your behind to the gym :D

Gyms are great!

Morning,

I love going to the gym and weight lifting in general. It's great to explore and see if it's right for you.

If you're new to free weights, here are two excellent resources:

- Super articles and resources

- Complete with animated gifs showing the lifts

Becoming one with the iron is a real blast and you can truly challenge yourself as you grow and improve.

Enjoy,

Barbara
