lotsa questions fr me.. i'm overall quite fit. love jogging and i jog regularly 5 times a week for 40 min each session. (heart rate 150/min)here's some questions fr me..
- will jogging on treadmill at an inclined angle for 40 min build up muscles on legs and butt and calves thus make them bulk up? i think the muscles hav already made my lower body a bit bulky. and what excercises can i do to trim down calves and legs?
-cardios.. shall i choose one according to the heart rate or according to calorie burnt? like walking and jogging.. both can give me 70-80%of my max heart rate but walking burns less calories right?
- i've been following a healthy diet and excercising regularly for 3 months but my weight is the same. (5'6, 120lb). i need to lose 5lb or so. how can i explain this halt? my daily calorie intake is around 1500 kcal.
-i'm on medication for PCOS so i take progesteron as medication. will this make me bloat up or sth?

sorry for asking so much at one time. i appreciate your help..

jogging on an incline will build a bit of bulk, but i don't think it would be very dramatic. regular jogging should be enough to trim them down. Of course, saying all this is based on the average person ... if you are genetically predisposed to having large calves and legs, then there is no use fighting it.
- cardios: i would recommend doing HIIT ... optimizes heart rate with calories burnt for overall fat loss
- as a guy, you will gain muscle pretty easily, so trying to follow your weight isn't the best way to track results ... you won't notice a weight change until your body has reached a plateau of exercise (as your muscles stop growing) ... a tape measure and mirror are you best units of measurement.

I don't have much time right now so just a few quick points...

Calf muscles, even more so than others, are genetically determined. Some bodybuilders even go to the extreme of getting implants since calves can be difficult to build. Since you say you're fit, I doubt that you'll be able to do much to reduce the size of your calves.

First of all, remember that cardio machine calorie burn numbers can be fairly inaccurate. Generally, yes, running will burn more calories in the same amount of time than walking. However, walking at 4.0 mph will burn more calories than jogging at 4.2 because your body has to work harder to walk at 4.0 mph than it does to jog at 4.2. If both walking and jogging can get you to 70-80% of your MHR, I would not assume that you're automatically burning more calories when jogging.

Why?

my focus..

hey.. thanks for ur help! my focus.. i'm not into body building or anything. i'm 18 and still a student. dancing is my extra curricular activity and i hope to lose 5 lb of weight for my performance in late febuary... since i got school n all these i dun hav much time to go to gym and i only got 1 hr or so to work out everyday. my upper body is quite fit but my lower body looks a bit bulky.. i don't know whether it's coz of my muscles or coz of fats. ( i'm 5'6, 120lb). dieting and excercising for 3 months didn't seem to help at all.. i'm also taking oral contraceptives.. does that make me gain weight too?
