Party

Last night my husband celebrated his 28th birthday with his closest friends. It was so fun having everyone out to see our new house and we ended the night around our new outdoor fire pit. I really don't know what I weigh now. Wow, we have been so busy! The night before the party we were up until 12 AM installing cabinets in the laundry room and arranging our new dining table - an old, sturdy table with ladder back chairs found on Craigslist. Life is good - but still a whirlwind!

Hey jogger! Great to hear about your new house. You must be really young eh? I'm the same age as your hub! I wouldn't worry about your temporary weight gain. I gained about 6.5 lbs last week, but lost almost all of it over the weekend. A lot of it could be water if you've been downing salty things (pizza is infamous for this!). I also hear you on the hunger thing. Looking at your diet diary, I think you, like me, tend to eat larger meals fewer times a day. I found if I eat this way, then I do need to feel that light hunger just before my next meal, in order to lose weight. But eating nuts and fruit as snacks I've found take away the edge of the hunger while still making me feel as if I've got a deficit. Especially nuts, which don't have the high sugar content and don't muck around with the insulin levels. Have you tried macadamia nuts? They are so rich and filling, it only takes 2 or 3 to make you feel satisfied. I'm also not of the school that says nuts are fattening. I believe all plant foods, eaten in moderation, are healthy. I mean, how many nuts can a person eat in one sitting?

Congrats again anyway, on your weight loss, recital and new house. I envy you with all those cows! I lived in the country last year and really miss hearing the mooing from my toilet (don't mean to be icky, it's just the only room I ever heard it in). Cheers. :jump:

As I am eating chocolate...

Oh dear, now this is REALLY pretty funny. I didn't even think twice about the chocolate I am shoving into my mouth right now until I started to type. Then I am like wait. Here I am writing in a weight loss journal while eating chocolate. Something has gone very wrong here! The chocolate is left over from roasting s'mores at the birthday party. At least it is gone now! :) So that about sums up how my weight loss efforts (or lack there of) are proceeding at the moment.

But what I sat down to type about was the woes of being a good cook. Anyone else have this problem? Last night I made the most delicious rigatoni with sausage, onions, peppers, tomatoes, marsala wine, etc. Ironically I found the recipe in an article about cooking for your man in Cosmo. Never thought I would be clipping recipes from a fashion magazine, but the dish was awesome! However, the side effect of cooking something amazing seems to be overindulgence for both my husband and I. A few hours later we found ourselves headed down the local boardwalk out of desperation.

I love to cook and I love my new kitchen full of all my shiny wedding presents - an ice cream maker, fondue pot, crock pot... Hey wait, I got to be able to cook something good and healthy in my new crock pot!

Hopefully, posting will bring me back to my senses and remind me I should be snacking on nuts instead of candy bars and cooking lentils instead of sausages.

Shinsplint -

I know what you mean about the "MOOOooo!!!" sound. Something about it just makes me smile and sometimes I just have to join in with the cow's lyrical notes.

I am about your age. Nice nickname by the way!

I think you are right about the whole snacking throughout the day versus big meal thing. I really need to get back to healthy snacks again.

I am glad you dropped by to say hello! Best, Jogger
