Jog/Run and weight lift?

So how good/bad would it be to lift weights then proceed for a jog/run? I want to get back into my workout routine (after a 1 yr stop from being ill). I want to jog/run 4-6 days and lift weights 3-4 days but I am not gonna have the luxury of doing them on separate days or two different times of the day. I want to lose weight and work on muscle strength/definition. So given all that, is that an okay plan? I am a 23 F at currently 125 lbs. I am also wondering if I should lift for 45-60 min then go for a run or run first thing in the morning then immediately lift? Has anyone had more success doing it either way?

BTW...I am used to running 30-50 miles a week and did so for 3 years so I am not new to running. It's just with the illness and the press for time problem, I am trying to figure out how to get back into a good routine for me.

Whenever I work out I always lift then do cardio. I have tried to do cardio before I lift but I don't get as good as a workout. I do this about four days a week and have gotten great results. Maybe jog to the gym and then lift? or use the treadmill.

If I do have the time to do some light weights I also incorporate cardio afterwards. I feel that as long as you don't feel completely exhausted this cannot be too harmful for you.

Hi Angelzbabe100

Definitely lift weights before your cardio workout. This is because you want to be fresh and give 100% to your weights, if you do cardio first you may be tired and have the energy to give all you've got to your weight program. Then, go for a 20-40minute run (depending on how much time you have). Because you mentioned you don't have much time I would also recommend you do interval training 2 or 3 times per week which combines weight training and cardio - it's quick and fast burning!!!!

I hope that helps!
